The building itself is a piece of history: it was built as one of the last representative buildings of the former GDR for Berlin's 750th anniversary in 1987, and it sits right on the edge of Ernst-Thälmann Park in Prenzlauer Berg.
Its striking 30-metre dome dominates the Berlin skyline and makes it one of the largest planetariums in Europe ☄️
The highlight was a full-dome show taking us on a journey through the stars and the universe. The centerpiece is a star projector that retracts into the floor and can project over 9,500 stars and the Milky Way onto the dome 🌌

Fairytale towers and royal gardens, Babelsberg palace park is picturesquely located on the banks of the Havel River 📍
Its main attraction is Schloss Babelsberg, the neo-Gothic palace built for Prince Wilhelm of Prussia (later Kaiser Wilhelm I) and his wife Princess Augusta of Saxe-Weimar 🏰
Rising above it all is the Flatow Tower, built between 1853 and 1856 with stones from the former princely estate in Flatow, standing an impressive 46 metres tall as the park's crown jewel and one-time imperial guesthouse.
Definitely a must visit when visiting Berlin and Potsdam! 🧳

The Pei Building is tucked behind the Deutsches Historisches Museum's Baroque Zeughaus, a total architectural plot twist!
Designed by legendary architect I.M. Pei (the same mind behind the Louvre Pyramid) and completed in 2003, it's built almost entirely of glass and steel and the structure features a dramatic spiral staircase and a soaring atrium that floods the space with natural light ✨
A striking contrast to the museum's centuries-old original building next door. Pei designed it to feel light and transparent, a deliberate architectural statement of openness after German reunification.
It now houses the museum's special exhibitions, but honestly, the building itself is the exhibit! 🪩

Fotografiska Berlin, spreading across 5,500 square meters inside the iconic Tacheles building on Oranienburger Straße, is the fourth branch of the Swedish photography museum, bringing world-class contemporary photography right into the heart of the German capital 📸
The building carries a rich and complex history, once a department store, it later became the legendary Kunsthaus Tacheles artists' squat. The iconic graffiti created between 1990 and 2012 was carefully preserved as part of the renovation, making every corner a layer of living history 🎨
