Finally, you can make Japan’s viral omurice yourself!

I’d wanted to visit Kichi Kichi Omurice for ages, but every time I was in Kyoto, it was always fully booked… That’s why I was stoked when I got the chance to take part in the Kichi Kichi Omurice cooking class alongside Chef Motokichi.

We learned how to make the iconic Fuwa-Toro omelet, which is so fluffy and runny when sliced open, and got to experience firsthand his signature, show-like culinary artistry and the viral technique that made the dish famous worldwide.

I can safely say that I’ll be making this every time I’m in the mood for omurice! 🍳

Invited to discover the new menu at India Club; a modern take on North Indian cuisine that harmoniously blends tradition, warmth, and elegant presentation.

Among the standout dishes on the menu were the Chana & Pakora Chaat with its perfect blend of crunch and tang, and the Poolchakri Murgh, which was deeply aromatic and tender. Our favourite among the main courses was the Murgh Dabbawala; rich, comforting, full of depth, and served in a traditional tiffin box which enriched the experience.

The Dal Makhani was another highlight, velvety, and slow-cooked to perfection. Worth mentioning, we ordered everything Indian spicy, which made the flavors even more vibrant! The naan breads also deserve a special mention; soft, and fresh straight from the oven and the cilantro-chili kulcha quickly became my favorite, so buttery, and fragrant.

Aside from the food, the service was friendly and warm throughout, with staff genuinely happy to share the stories behind the dishes and offer thoughtful recommendations. 🥘

Save this for your next dinner date!

A new zen tea house in Berlin where the interiors speak for themselves; soft light, wood, and Noguchi lamps setting the mood.

Inspired by Japanese tea rooms and minimalism, the space is all about quiet design and presence over decoration.

Come here for the matcha, homemade daifuku and dango, and stay for the tranquility! 🍵

Back in Vienna, and you already know a schnitzel stop is a must!

I visited Meissl & Schadn, one of the city’s most stylish schnitzel restaurants, where tradition and modern elegance blend in a chic setting. They keep things focused here, serving only Wiener Schnitzel, and they invited me into the kitchen to watch the preparation process, from pounding the veal until it’s paper-thin to frying it until it develops that light, golden, and crispy crust. Everything is done with meticulous care, and the open kitchen makes it even more engaging because you can watch the entire process while sitting right there.

As for the sides.. think classic Viennese pairings like potato salad, cucumber salad, and lingonberry compote. Simple, yet they perfectly balance the richness of the schnitzel and are prepared in a way that stays true to tradition.

Save this for your next trip to Vienna!

New lunch spot alert! Opened just a few months ago in a well-preserved old butcher shop, this spot serves satisfying teishoku lunch sets with rice, miso soup, and side dishes (I love the crispy karaage and grilled fish with kabayaki sauce!) and a plate of Japanese tapas to share. Such a solid midday find!
