After spending 167 days living with Andrew in the hospital, we understand all too well how important it is to be with your critically ill child. For most of us, that means jobs, bills, and life outside the hospital come second. Unfortunately, we still have to find a way to pay those bills. That is why we provide financial help for kids with cancer through The B+ Foundation Family Assistance Program.

Our program gives qualified families money for expenses that are attributable to their child’s cancer diagnosis. The goal of the program is to lessen the financial burden so families can focus on helping their children get well. We often help families with the following expenses and bills:

💊 Prescription medications that insurance won’t cover
🚗 Travel costs for treatment
🏠 Mortgage payments/ren
🎗️ And more

In addition to financial support, we offer The B+ Hero Program in select areas across the country. This program is intended to make children with cancer and their siblings feel special while putting them on a much-deserved pedestal by matching participating on-campus groups (i.e. fraternity, sorority, sports team, student organization) with a child and their family. B+ Heroes are “adopted” by these groups and enjoy get-togethers, outings and just hanging out being a kid.

Learn more about these programs and more at our website link in bio.
The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation honors the memory of Andrew, a 14-year-old athlete and ‘A’ student from Wilmington, Delaware. January 27, 2007, Andrew helped lead his team to victory in a Pennsylvania state championship soccer tournament. Within 48 hours, he was in cardiac arrest. The diagnosis was AML Leukemia and doctors didn’t expect Andrew to live through the night. However, Andrew fought for 167 days before going to Heaven on July 14, 2007. Andrew's B+ blood type became his family and friends’ motto throughout his 167-day fight against childhood cancer – to “Be Positive” – as that is how he lived his life and inspired others to do the same.

After Andrew passed away, his family created the foundation to create a better future for kids and families battling childhood cancer. Since its inception, the foundation has:

💵 Become the largest provider of financial assistance for families of kids with cancer nationwide

🧬 Funded over 250 critical, childhood research projects at top institutions worldwide, some of which have helped establish safer, more effective and even life-saving treatment options

🎗️ Increased awareness of childhood cancer and worked in collaboration with other childhood cancer organizations to more than double the federal childhood cancer research budget

🗣️ Spread The B+ Message and Andrew’s story across the world with over 1,500 speaking engagements and partnerships with schools, universities, companies, sports teams and more.
