Tout commence dans l’eau glacée de la calanque de Sugiton en mars, et une photo rapide au téléphone qui ressemblait déjà à une affiche. Une affiche en entraînant une autre, je me suis retrouvé avec une série de 6 représentant chacune un parc national français. Et là, pourquoi s’arrêter? Sous l’impulsion de et avec la plume de Florence Thinard (à qui je dois déjà Abeilles et Vers de Terre et Insectes), voici donc ce beau documentaire qui, je l’espère, vous donnera envie d’explorer ces endroits incroyables et hors du temps.

National Parks is out, and it’s a long story.
It starts in the freezing water of the Calanque de Sugiton in March, and a quick phone photo that already looked like a poster. One poster leading to another, I ended up with a series of 6, each one a French national park. And at that point, why stop? With Gallimard Jeunesse on board and the words of Florence Thinard (who also wrote Bees & Earthworms and Insects with me), here’s the documentary book that came out of it. I hope it makes you want to explore these incredible, timeless places.

"Jöklar" was released on April 2nd and I'm delighted to finally share this news with you.
Between documentary and fiction, this book invites you to discover the ancestral connections between glaciers and humans.
A huge thank you to Isabelle Autissier for her magnificent preface, to glaciologist Etienne Berthier for his valuable scientific proofreading, and to Anne-Claire Bihan-Poudec who allowed me to research in Iceland aboard the sailing vessel Atka.

My name is Benjamin Flouw (you guessed it), I'm 34 y.o and I live in Marseille (🇫🇷). Originally from the South of France, I studied CG animation and worked in the Animation industry in London and Paris while doing illustration on the side.
Then I was able to settle down as a freelance illustrator and I came back to live in the South of France, like a junkie in need of the smell of the "garrigue" and the hum of the cicadas 🌊🌾.
Over the years, I've developed a feverish curiosity for all living things. It started when I was a child, with animal documentaries on TV and later with books on trees and plants 🌱.
I try to devote most of my work to showing the beauty and the issues surrounding this living world, whether it is through my children's books ("The Golden Glow", "Fox and the Deep Sea Quest"...), in the prints on my online shop or in the choice of projects I take part in.
