The prettiest gym in the world. Is there anything quite like a new environment to reinvigorate your fire?
We go again..
Different city. Same hustle.
My advice for anyone starting a fitness journey in 2020?

The new beginnings of a January prompt many to embark on a journey of change and transformation. Does that mean a new decade does tis tenfold!? The fact remains that you’re able to do this is so many ways but whichever way you might decide, here are a few things that apply to all..
-
▫️Start.. “Be so naive that you start. And so stubborn that you finish”. Do the things you want to avoid - that’s where you make the most progress.
▫️Prioritise systems over goals. Hear me out, - goals are great, systems are better. Goals are tangible but they are also finite. Each year we’re told to set goals and we can get rightly excited about them but they don’t support true growth. You can get bogged down and tunnel’d. Using systems create an environment that fosters learning and constant growth.
▫️Get organised! So often you’ll find people wander through the doors of the gym to find themselves twiddling their thumbs. Have a plan. Make the most of your time. ▫️Play the long game.. DOMs are always going go affect the newbie more than the seasoned gym-goer. Let your body get used to the pressures of exercise and get the necessary rest days. Adequate recovery is every bit as important as the days spent working out.
▫️Give it your all. Once you’ve committed, give it everything. And if you do happen to slip up, be quick to remind yourself.. something is always better than nothing!
▫️Have fun.. Nothing that you don’t enjoy is ever going to be sustainable. That applies to food and whatever form of exercise you choose. Continuously modify your challenge and plan to keep it interesting and enjoyable!

Good to be back. And where better to get back on the horse than at the wonderful.

It doesn’t matter what stage of work and life you’re in, you should never stop learning. Cultivating your life skills and career skills are so important because investing in not only stimulates your creativity, it makes you more interesting around the dinner table.
-
And I truly believe that if you are looking to invest in something that will result in a great return, you should start with yourself. It will be the best thing you ever do! Now, the wonderful thing about investing in yourself is that it doesn’t always have to be career driven. So, what are some ways you can start investing in yourself this week?

Good to be back..!
When life gives you lemons..
-
I’m yet to find a better cure for literally everything than a sweaty workout. It’s not just the burst of endorphins - I mean, obviously that’s great too - but the sense of achievement you get at the end of it.
-
It has seen me through a fair share of curveballs and I’m staying loyal. If you need me, I’ll be in lycra.
Swinging into the weekend like..
Sunday Funday..

Here’s the basic principles to live by when getting shreddy is the goal..
-
Ultimately, you’ve got to burn more calories than you eat. End of. How you do that..? A calorie deficit. A good place to start for most is multiplying your body weight (lbs) by 12. Whatever that number is, that’s the calories you eat.
-
Eat enough protein to sustain muscle. 1g per pound is a good number for most.
-
Heavy lifting builds muscle. It also retains muscle. Strive to never go backwards with your lifts - always progress.
-
This is one of that most of us don’t get enough of - good quality sleep. Aim for 7 minimum, 8-9 is optimum.
-
Make sure you’re getting plenty of water and electrolytes. Hunger is often a sign of dehydration. If you’re in a deficit, the last thing you want is extra hunger. Water can also curb hunger paaangs!
