We were going out for dinner, and she jumped out of her room wearing a sweater I made for her birthday a couple of years ago. She giggled, knowing it would make me happy, and it did.
In the car she said to me, "Auntie, I really love this sweater. Minnie Mouse and the denim sleeves, especially because they have little diamonds on them".
"OH yeah? Dropping hints, are we?" I replied.
Later in a gift shop she found a Victoria sweater that she liked, but even the small would have been waaaay too big for her, like she could host a whole circus inside too big. Of course she liked THIS one, and none of the children's sizes. She wanted oversized, but there is such thing as too oversized.
It was her birthday, so of course I listened to all of this and got to work.
A classic B-Bot cover-up and denim sleeve sweater. The letters are made using the leftover denim from the pants I used for the sleeves. The yellow background is from a sleeve from a different project. I used the Grey sleeves from this sweater to cover up the original graphic on the back.
Apparently, she wore it at school and everyone was asking where she got it. She's sassy and told everyone it's one of a kind and you can't get it anywhere because her Auntie made it for her.
Throughout her trip here, she made small comments about covering up stains on clothes, putting socks in their pouffe, or having ideas for upcycled clothes. If this is the mindset she's growing up with, there is hope for our future. #proudauntie

A silly ode to everyone on dating apps on the west coast. Everyone "loves hiking", no one loves committing. This lover of hikes won't ghost you or break your heart. She'll be there to support you until death do you part.
These patchy pouffes will be made from available scrap fabric in this colour palette at the time of production. It may include fabrics with prints and patterns on them as well as solid colours.
Designed to be filled by you, each pouffe shell comes intentionally empty—ready to be stuffed with worn-out clothing and textiles that can’t be resold or donated. Think holey socks, stretched-out bras, ripped tights, or fabric scraps. An instruction card is included to guide you on the best stuffing methods, but ultimately, it's up to you! Create a pouffe that’s uniquely yours while keeping textiles in circulation and out of the trash.
Give new life to old textiles with our upcycled fabric pouffe shells! Made from second-hand sourced materials, these pouffes help reduce textile and fashion waste by repurposing fabrics that would otherwise end up in landfills.

People in the second-hand fashion realm are literally begging us to stop donating our worn-out, yucky, stained, damaged, and unwearable clothes. You are not doing anyone a favor, no one needs it, we are not running out of clothes. We are in fact, bursting at the seams with too many clothes!
I say this with kindness, but please stop donating clothes that aren't in decent wearable shape. People are in need of clothing, but they shouldn't be destitute to the crappiest clothes available.
Comment POUFFE and I will send you the link to the empty pouffe shells. The sewing pattern is on my website under "Pouffe Pattern".
This leopard print top with black sides is available but not on there yet. The first person to DM me about it (and pays) will get it!
What do you do with clothes you can wear or donate? This is my solution and small piece to building a more sustainable wardrobe and reducing your fashion impact.

🪡it's beginner friendly - never sewn before? Maybe make a Tote bag first. This is your third project. No problem! The hardest part is the lapped zipper, but I walk you through it step by step, so you'll be a pro after the first one.
🪡yes, there's a zipper.
🪡the best fabric to use is thicker with structure. Canvas, upholstery, and curtains are my top choices. But if you want to use a lighter fabric, just add an extra layer of another fabric.
🪡there are instructions to make your own patchy one.
EMPTY POUFFE SHELLS
💫made with second-hand sourced and upcycled fabrics therefore each colour is very limited.
💫there's a zipper so you can continue to stuff it, or get in and out if you want it for storage.
💫a handy little cushion to have around for an extra seat, foot stool, side table, or for racing (which means you need more than 1).
Comment POUFFE, and I'll send you the link!

Remember, these are all made from upcycled materials, so each fabric is very limited! Sometimes, there's only one of each!
I wanted it to look pretty original, so I started playing with diagonal cuts. I wanted to make it longer and wider, so I tested out different additions to do that. I had an old brown Corduroy skirt that I upcycled previously and thought it was a good color match with the yellow and burgundy. I think it creates a cool texture combo. I cut off the capy from the touque and put it on the sweater like an emblem.
Just because something doesn't fit in is original form, doesn't mean you can't make it fit exactly how you want while making it more interesting!
This one is mine, but I'm curious to know what you think and if I should make similar ones for you. Let me know in the comments!

I sell empty pouffe shells, so all you have to do is stuff them. I also have the pattern available for you to sew one yourself. Either way, you're keeping 15 - 20lbs of trashion out of the ocean. Comment POUFFE, and I'll send you the link!
I’M NOT COOL ENOUGH patchy pouffes are made from fabrics in cool tones. Inspiration from things as cool as a cucumber, like the ocean, mountainous horizons, lavender fields, glaciers, and the northern lights. Think blues, greens, purples, beiges, and greys.
These patchy pouffes will be made from available scrap fabric in this colour palette at the time of production. It may include fabrics with prints and patterns on them as well as solid colours.
A pouffe intentionally left empty for you to fill with clothes and other textiles that aren't good enough to be donated that you don't want to throw in the garbage.
I've got other patchy pouffe colors on my website! You get to pick the patchy level that fits your budget. Also, a few solid colours and prints left, go check them out.

Okay, but let's not pretend all 8 billion people are the ones who need to start making some moves. The ones who are the most impacted are often doing the most work.
If you have a sweater that you love but don't wear because there's a permanent stain on it, please don't donate it. Make or find a fun patch and cover it up. If you don't want to do it yourself, there are people in your community who can do it for you.
Same with old company merch, that is great quality, but maybe you don't want to rep that business anymore. Cover up the branded parts.
We've been conditioned to believe that if a garment isn't exactly how we want it, we should just go buy something else. But let's unlearn that crap and start seeing the potential in our clothing. Changing our mindset is extremely difficult, but so is actually taking the action to do it. Let me tell you, my personal pile of clothes to alter and upcycle is large, but I have been slowly widdling it down.
Imagine if even 1 million people saved just one thing from the donation pile and wore it for another year (then put it in a pouffe). That's 1 million garments saved from entering the second-hand clothing system.
All of this just to say, YOU can make a difference. WE can make a bigger one.
I'm Brynn, I upcycle clothes and make empty pouffe shells to reduce fashion waste. Follow along for how you can reduce yours.
