Stories bound to a larger reality and to the current situation came to me, stories of women in the resistance, and of love under occupatio’n. Stories that have haunted me: lovers separated by a wall, waiting for the other to be arrested, murdered, or persecuted. People who chose to share the same destiny: resisting the occupatio’n.
This video, inspired by Naila and the Uprising, shows glimpses into the incredible story of Naila Ayesh, born in Nablus, an active student and organizer of the women’s movement in G’a’z’a in the 1980s. A key figure in the First Intifada, she devoted her life to the resistance, forcing the world to acknowledge, for the first time, the P🌙 l🌙stin🌙 right to self-determination. At a moment when thousands of men were arrested, deported, or killed during Isr rlll’s repression of the uprising, women stepped into leadership roles. Yet the centrality of women and nonviolent resistance in the Intifada has too often been overlooked.
Naila spent years building the foundations of economic independence for women and self-sufficiency for P🌙 l🌙stin🌙 women under occupatio’n. Naila and dozens of other women began building parallel institutions to resist military control: underground classrooms when schools were shut down, citizen-run health clinics for those denied access to hospitals, and “victory gardens” to break reliance on Israeli agriculture.
This video is, in sum, a tribute to all women, from any background, race, gender, or faith, who are willing to plant daily the seed of another possible world.

Bassolino’s new release is located where the sea begins and the sky ends. Two tracks that carry the horizon drawing a straight line between Naples, Tunisi and Beirut. A thin but tangible line that unites the Mediterranean poles. Hence the concept of “Popoli del Mare”, the multiform sound waves intertwine a composition with an incessant rhythm: the Afro contamination of Charif Megarbane finds a fit with the Italian and dreamy harmonies of Bassolino.
