โI completed my nursing graduate year at Barwon Health in 2006 and have worked across several medical departments during my 17-year career. For the past 11 years, Iโve worked as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager in Medical Day Stay and was incredibly excited to help transition into the new Medical Day Hub when it opened in August 2025.
The Medical Day Hub supports people needing same-day treatment without an overnight hospital stay, bringing together Medical Day Stay, Hospital in the Home, Early Access Clinic and Transit Lounge services into one space.
My role includes coordinating patients, managing staff and patient flow, administering treatments and infusions, and supporting day-to-day operations. We care for people living with a wide range of conditions including multiple sclerosis, Crohnโs disease, neurological and inflammatory conditions, anaemia and rare genetic disorders.
One of the best parts of my role is seeing familiar faces and building strong connections with patients over many years. I love helping people feel comfortable and cared for during what can often be a stressful time in their lives. Bringing positivity and joy into the workplace is something I value deeply, and I hope it helps brighten the experience for every patient who walks through our doors.โ

โI have worked at Barwon Health for 24 years, commencing in 2002 through the graduate year program. During that time, I explored nursing across oncology, theatre, rehabilitation and paediatrics before completing my Graduate Diploma of Midwifery through the Barwon Health and Deakin University program in 2005 and beginning my dream career as a midwife.
Today, I work as an Inter-Professional Clinical Placement Facilitator within Maternity Services, supporting both midwifery and medical students during their clinical placement journey across our busy and growing maternity services. Much of our work is at the bedside, helping students gain valuable hands-on learning opportunities while caring for women and families during labour and birth.
One of the most rewarding parts of my role is seeing students grow in confidence and eventually become employees of Barwon Health themselves. I also feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside a passionate and experienced team committed to supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Even after attending hundreds of births throughout my career, the greatest reward remains the privilege of being present when a new baby arrives. It never fails to remind me how fragile life is and how fortunate I am to be a midwife.โ
Barwon Health volunteers came together for a special breakfast celebration at the home of the Geelong Cats, recognising the incredible people who give their time, care and compassion to support our community every day.
From patient transport and aged care to emergency and palliative care support, our volunteers make a real difference across Barwon Health contributing more than 19,600 hours in the past year alone.

โI joined Barwon Health in 2014 after relocating from my hometown of Newcastle, NSW, to begin as an Intern Radiographer. Since then, Iโve had the opportunity to grow both clinically and as a leader, progressing through supervisory roles before returning to Barwon Health in 2021 and stepping into the Chief Radiographer role in late 2023. Most recently, I commenced as Acting Operations Manager in Medical Imaging earlier this year.
Today, I lead a large team of highly skilled radiographers delivering safe and effective imaging services to our community around the clock. Our team provides X-ray, CT, MRI, Interventional Angiography, Fluoroscopy and Mammography services across multiple sites throughout Geelong and Colac.
What I enjoy most about my role is seeing early-career radiographers develop and thrive within the opportunities Barwon Health offers as a teaching university hospital. I also value remaining clinically active as part of our 24/7 Interventional Angiography team, where we care for acutely unwell patients alongside multidisciplinary teams and often see rapid, meaningful improvements in their condition.
Barwon Health is a fantastic place to build a career, with genuine learning and growth opportunities at every stage. If youโre a radiographer or student radiographer looking for your next step, Iโd encourage you to consider joining us.โ
Itโs wonderful to see 21 of this yearโs participants continuing their journey with Barwon Health after previously working with us in other roles across the organisation.
Throughout the program, graduates will take part in seven dedicated study days and receive ongoing support from our Graduate Support Team and Clinical Support Nurses across specialty areas, helping them grow their skills and confidence as they begin their nursing careers.

To every nurse across our organisation: thank you for your compassion, expertise, leadership and unwavering commitment to our patients, consumers and community.

โI am the Nurse Unit Manager of the Barwon North Dialysis Unit, caring for patients living with end-stage kidney disease who require life-sustaining haemodialysis. My role involves coordinating safe, high-quality care while also working clinically with patients and supporting continuity of care alongside multidisciplinary teams.
I have worked at Barwon Health since 2003 and have worked across a range of nursing roles before moving into dialysis nursing. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our team continued delivering essential dialysis care while navigating lockdowns and additional safety requirements for vulnerable patients.
Iโve also been supported to continue my professional development, including completing my Master of Clinical Nursing in 2022. I enjoy mentoring staff and supporting nurses as they progress in their careers.
What I enjoy most about dialysis nursing is building strong relationships with patients and their families and creating a warm and supportive environment. Itโs a privilege to support patients through important moments in their lives while helping them manage long-term kidney disease with compassion and dignity.โ
