I wasn’t going to do this trend because I’ve always believed in looking forward — but some years deserve to be honoured.
2016 was a moment.
My YouTube was barely a year old, I’d already been blogging for years, and Instagram was still a beautiful place of flat lays, soft light and carefully curated photos. I was living in London and honestly… I was at events almost every day. Incredible events.
Parties. Dinners. Stunning hotels and venues. Brand thank-you gifts that felt unreal — champagne, flowers, and even a Coach bag that I still love to this day.
That year I landed my first UGC campaign.
My first paid collaboration.
And began what’s still my longest-running brand ambassadorship.
I became a makeup brand ambassador — their first.
Had makeup named after me.
Consulted for beauty brands, helping them shape campaigns and find their audience.
I was going live on Facebook and interviewing some of the most influential beauty founders in the world… before that was even a “thing.”
Running Facebook pages for major beauty brands.
Covering launches in magazines, newspapers and on my blog.
Working with the “new and trending” brands of that time — It Cosmetics, Tarte — before they became what they are today.
It was a different era.
Soft box lights. Olympus Pen cameras.
Pixiwoo. Jaclyn Hill & Becca.
Everyone knew everybody.
It was intimate. Adventurous. Creative.
Small gatherings. Big dreams. Endless fun.
Bold makeup. Playful campaigns. Model opportunities.
A time where you felt appreciated. Valued. Seen.
And if you were there — you know.
The 2016 beauty space hit different.
There’s a small circle of us who lived that rise of the influencer movement from the inside… and I’ll always be grateful I was one of them.
For me life changed, a non supportive relationship made life difficult but I'm rebuilding
But this chapter will always be something I cherish.

Aside from the obvious things like keeping safe, warm and cosy - looking after our skins barrier and protecting it from the elements it's also important.
