On weekends, it seems like people queue for hours at Tiaoshi Bus Stop for this exact frame. While I’d never drive for hours or wait in a long line just for a bus stop, it was only a small detour, so I gave it a try. And I have to admit, the vibe really is lovely.

It’s wild how social media can completely transform a random location like this. For better and for worse.

An Wochenenden stehen die Leute an der Tiaoshi Bus Stop gefĂźhlt stundenlang fĂźr genau diesen Shot an. Ich wĂźrde zwar nie extra stundenlang dorthin fahren oder mich lange anstellen. Aber da es nur ein kleiner Umweg war, habe ich es einfach mal ausprobiert. Und ich muss zugeben, ich kann den Hype besser verstehen.

Schon verrßckt, wie Social Media einen vÜllig zufälligen Ort komplett verändern kann. Im Guten wie im Schlechten.

Three months on the road already. We’ve seen and experienced so much that it’s almost impossible to pick a single highlight. But I think I found mine on Liuqiu Island.

They advertise it with a „turtle guarantee.“ I expected to spot a few, but I never imagined standing in the water with literally dozens of sea turtles happily munching on seagrass right next to me. A raw, unforgettable moment.

My underwater footage was a complete fail, but luckily the turtles came close to the shore that I even dared to take my Canon into the ocean—more on that in another post…

Schon drei Monate sind vergangen und wir haben so viel gesehen und erlebt, dass es fast unmĂśglich ist, ein einzelnes Highlight herauszupicken. Aber ich glaube, auf Liuqiu Island habe ich meins gefunden.

Auf Liuqiu werben sie mit einer „Schildkröten-Garantie“. Klingt erst mal nach Marketing – bis du plötzlich im Wasser stehst und einfach Dutzende Schildkröten direkt neben dir schwimmen. Ein absolut unvergesslicher Moment.

Meine Unterwasser-Shots waren zwar ein kompletter Reinfall, aber das die Schildkröten kamen so nah an die Küste, dass ich mich irgendwann sogar mit der Canon ins Meer getraut habe. Aber dazu mehr im nächsten Post…

Every morning, hundreds, probably thousands, of scooters rush across the Taipei Bridge. It’s wild to watch the street fill up with scooters in a matter of seconds every single time the light turns red. I’ve never seen so many scooters in one place in my life (and you can’t even imagine the noise level on that corner 😂).

If you have some time in Taipei, I’d highly recommend stopping by. Just make sure to get there early during the week (preferably before 9 AM). I liked the show so much that I actually went back twice 😄

On the second morning, this super cute dog pulled up on a scooter, which was hands down my absolute highlight 😁

Jeden Morgen rollen Hunderte, wahrscheinlich sogar Tausende Roller über die Taipei Bridge. Es ist wild mitanzusehen, wie sich die Straße bei jeder roten Ampel innerhalb von Sekunden komplett mit Rollern füllt. Ich habe noch nie so viele Roller auf einem Haufen gesehen (den Lärmpegel kann man sich gar nicht vorstellen 😂).

Falls man etwas Zeit in Taipeh hat, wĂźrde ich auf jeden fall mal dort vorbeischauen. Man sollte nur unter der Woche frĂźh da sein (am besten vor 9 Uhr morgens).

Mir hat es dort so gut gefallen, dass ich direkt zweimal da war 😄 Am zweiten Tag tauchte dann dieser supersüße Hund auf einem Roller auf – definitiv mein absolutes Highlight 😁

Big news – we are leaving Hamburg to travel the world! 🌍✈️

After nine years in Hamburg, it’s time for a new chapter. That’s why my wife and I have quit our jobs, given up our apartment, and are ready to move on. Maybe even forever…

We are leaving Germany on July 2nd, and our first stop will be Kazakhstan (with a short layover in Istanbul) – because we wanted our adventure to start somewhere Special. I literally can’t put into words how excited we are for this journey. Of course, I’ll be sharing everything right here.

Looking back, I am incredibly thankful for my time in Hamburg. Over the years, I’ve grown so much personally and in terms of my photography, and I’ve met many amazing friends and fellow photographers. To honor this chapter, I’ve collected some of my favorite photos that I took here over the years. Each one holds a special memory—whether it was because of the epic conditions or the people I met during the photowalks.

Nach neun Jahren in Hamburg ist es Zeit für ein neues Kapitel. Deshalb haben meine Frau und ich unsere Jobs gekündigt, unsere Wohnung aufgegeben und sind bereit für Neues. Vielleicht sogar für immer…

Am 2. Juli verlassen wir Deutschland, und unser erster Stopp wird Kasachstan sein (mit einem kurzen Zwischenstopp in Istanbul) – weil wir wollten, dass unser Abenteuer an einem ganz besonderen Ort beginnt! Ich kann buchstäblich nicht in Worte fassen, wie aufgeregt wir sind und Natürlich werde ich alles hier mit euch teilen.

Wenn ich zurückblicke, bin ich unglaublich dankbar für die Zeit in Hamburg. Ich bin über die Jahre sowohl persönlich als auch in meiner Fotografie so sehr gewachsen und habe viele tolle Freunde und Fotografen kennengelernt. Um dieses Kapitel zu würdigen, habe ich einige meiner Lieblingsfotos zusammengestellt, die ich im Laufe der Jahre geschossen habe. Jedes einzelne verbinde ich mit einer besonderen Erinnerung – sei es wegen der perfekten Bedingungen oder wegen der Menschen, die ich bei den Fotowalks getroffen habe.

• I was born in Stuttgart and have been living in Hamburg for almost 9 years.
• I picked up my first camera 15 years ago (it was a Canon 40D.
• My journey started with portrait photography, nowadays I shoot mostly city scapes & a bit of landscape photography.
• I work in marketing.
• I‘ve been happily married since 2024.
• I have way too many unedited pictures sitting on my hard drives, waiting for me.
• My daily driver is a Fuji X100V other than that, I trust my Canon EOS R with some lenses.
• I don’t do video (yet!), but I’d love to learn — though those gigabytes of unedited photos might disagree.
• I love sunrises.
• Last year I travelled outside of Europe for the first time.
• I lost my heart in Norway in 2019.

• Angefangen habe ich mit Portraitfotografie, heute fotografiere ich hauptsächlich Cityscapes und ein bisschen Landschaft.

• Seit 2024 bin ich glücklich verheiratet.
• Auf meinen Festplatten warten viel zu viele unbearbeitete Fotos auf mich.
• Meine tägliche Begleiterin ist eine Fuji X100V – daneben vertraue ich auf meine Canon EOS R mit einigen Objektiven.
• Videos mache ich (noch) nicht, aber ich würde es gern lernen – auch wenn die Gigabytes an unbearbeiteten Fotos da wohl anderer Meinung sind.
