Kitakyushu Stadium
"Bring dreams and excitement to the people of this city Bring energy and goals to children! Bring pride and prosperity to the city!" The stadium is the world's first stadium with a view of the sea and mountains.
As soon as you pass through the gate and enter the concourse inside the stands, your view opens up to the entire stadium, the Kanmon Straits and lush green mountains in the background. We wanted to create a buzz and liveliness through a unique and inspiring staging that is unparalleled anywhere in the world.
The stadium is designed to accommodate a variety of uses, including watching professional sports such as the J-League and Rugby Top League, various sports tournaments, and civic events, etc. We designed the stands to be as close as possible to the field, with a zero-touch design that aligns the eye level of players and spectators.
The stand was designed to have a variety of seat variations, including a VIP area. As a sports facility of the future, we also strived to improve profitability and create a facility that will contribute to the revitalization of sports culture.

⌇Goto City Library 📚
Goto City is known as the “Island of Prayer,” where history, religion, and daily life are deeply intertwined. Even today, Christian culture remains rooted throughout the islands.
The construction of the library was guided by a desire to revive the region’s history and culture, and to help restore the island’s sense of community.
The battened ceiling design was inspired by the island churches registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Just as the early settlers—once hidden Christians—pioneered new lives on the island, the ceiling was realized using local materials and craftsmen.
This high-ceilinged, open library serves not only as a place that fosters local pride, but also as a lifelong learning space where visitors can connect with the history of Goto. The library, born from this vision, acts as a launching point for both historical research and tourism promotion—revitalizing the island with new energy.
The bookshelf layout concept is called “Cruising Through Knowledge.”
The space is composed of various “islands” of books, such as an “island of general books” and an “island of children’s books,” creating zones with distinct themes. Each island is furnished and lit in a way that reflects its unique character.
Display shelves that separate the islands change in appearance like the passing of the seasons, encouraging discovery and clearly expressing the individuality of each island.

TOTO Museum
The TOTO Museum is located in a very attractive area facing National Route 3 and the cherry blossom trees along the Murasaki River, in a corner of the TOTO headquarters and Kokura Plant No. 1 complex, where TOTO was founded.
The concept of the building was to be like a forest that brings blessings to people and the earth, looking ahead to the next 100 years, so that the building would symbolize TOTO, a company that has been contributing to environmental conservation for the past 100 years.
The architecture is based on the image of the earth and water droplets that moisten it as a symbol of TOTO's strong message for the preservation of a recycling-oriented society created by forests. It also represents TOTO as a global company that continues to watch over people, towns, nature, and the earth, along with their goal of leading a truly sustainable society.
The greenery of the rooftop greenery and the smooth cubic curves of the sanitary ware made by our master craftsmen give the building a form that resembles a drop of water. The building has also received CASBEE "S" rank certification for its 100 environmental practices that put the TOTO Global Environmental Vision into practice.

Nikkan Arena Tochigi (Tochigi Prefectural Sports Park East Area)
The Nikkan Arena Tochigi is a large-scale sports complex consisting of two main and two sub arenas, an indoor swimming pool, and a fitness center, which will be used for the Tochigi National Athletic Meet to be held in 2022.
The three large spaces of the main arena, sub-arena, and indoor swimming pool are divided into individual volumes and placed around the "Hill of Exchange" to facilitate coordination and blend in with the surrounding environment and landscape. The exterior of the building is designed with a stone block expression reminiscent of the Oyaishi mining site, and Oyaishi stone is actually used for the exterior to convey its appeal as a place where one can feel the uniqueness of Tochigi.
The 2022 Prix Versailles recipients, which recognizes outstanding architecture, have been announced. The Nikkan Arena Tochigi, which we designed, has been selected for the "Special prize Interior" award in the Sports category!
The Prix Versailles, sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the mutual development of culture and economy, is a world-class architectural award established in 2015, and architectural designs from all over the world are selected by a panel of renowned architects.

Yame City Hall
Located at the southern edge of the Chikugo Plain in northern Kyushu, Yame City is known for its scenic landscape of tea fields and terraced rice paddies spread across the mountainous region. This gently stepped rhythm of the land is deeply intertwined with the city’s culture and climate, and can be seen as a direct expression of Yame’s unique identity.
Inspired by these local agricultural landscapes, the new city hall adopts a tiered design reminiscent of terraced fields. Its stepped form recedes gradually like a natural plateau, allowing soft daylight and breezes to gently filter into each floor. This structure not only responds rationally to nature’s principles but also expresses the building’s intent to harmonize with the city around it.
Stepping inside, visitors are welcomed by the warm scent of cedar, soft natural light, and a space infused with the traditional craftsmanship of Yame. Local cedar wood from Yame is used throughout the interior and exterior, allowing the building to "breathe" in sync with its surroundings through the materials themselves.
Walking through the site, one may catch subtle glimpses of the town’s past as a historic castle town. This area, with its continuous row of white-walled townhouses, has been preserved as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, where the interplay of white walls and shadow continues to shape everyday life.

History and Future Exchange Center
The History and Future Exchange Center is a complex consisting of a museum and youth activity facilities located in the center of the village's educational area.
With three concepts at its core, the museum not only "collects, preserves, exhibits, and passes on" the history and cultural assets of the village, but also encourages children and adults alike to easily engage with the history and culture of Tokai Village and rediscover the charm of the village.
1. The site is zoned in four zones, east and west, and each zone is linked by activities in the north-south direction, "a configuration that connects the entire site through activities."
2. A "living exhibition space" where everyone can discover and display the charm of the village through the collection and display of the entire village as a museum.
3. The RC storehouse and veranda space for the preservation of the natural history are covered by a light steel-framed large roof, creating a "mixed structure that renables activities and exhibition preservation."

Ueda Exchange Culture and Art Center / Ueda City Museum of Art
Taking advantage of the vast site next to the Chikuma River, the majority of the facilities are located on the first floor in a low-rise layout.
The building is designed to be barrier-free based on horizontal lines of flow, and has evolved into a safe and comfortable facility environment in direct contact with nature.
The layout plan is characterized by the dynamic configuration of a 300-meter-long circular promenade that runs through the cultural facilities and embraces the green lawn that represents the Civic Plaza. The facility structure is a cluster system in which the entrances and exits of all the functional spaces are directly connected to the circular exchange promenade. The ease of approaching the facility, together with the good visibility provided by the openness of the structure, enhances the familiarity of using the facility.

Yui no Mori Arakawa
YUI NO MORI ARAKAWA is a complex consisting of a central library, a literature museum for the writer Akira Yoshimura, and a children's facility in Arakawa Ward, Tokyo.
The aim was to create a facility where the three functions are fused together so that each function can synergize with one another, maximizing the merits of the complex.
The zoning of each floor is based on the age and interests of the users, such as combining picture books with the children's facilities and novels with the literature museum.
In terms of cross-section, the entire facility is loosely connected by connecting the upper and lower floors through a vaulted ceiling, while the age and liveliness of the users change in a gradual manner from the lower to the upper floors. On the general and specialized book floors, the ceiling height and interior design have been changed to create a quiet space with the calmness of a salon or study for those who want to spend more time with books.
By intertwining a lively space like a plaza with a quiet space like a salon or study, and by creating a gradual hierarchical structure, we aimed to create a rich space with diversity like a "town" where all kinds of people can feel welcome and spend time in their own way.

Taoyuan City Library
Taoyuan City is one of the fastest-growing urban areas in Taiwan. The library is situated within the Art and Culture Plaza Park, a location that will soon be connected to Taoyuan International Airport via a new metro line. The area features upscale residential buildings to the south and a bustling district of traditional Taiwanese street shops to the north. This library is part of a multi-use complex that includes a cinema, shops, cafés, and restaurants, and on weekends, the site becomes a vibrant hub with food stalls and frequent community events, serving as the social nucleus of the area.
The library's core concept is the "Tree of Life." Drawing from the idea that the library provides the "fruit of knowledge" for citizens to grow, the design is realized through five key elements:
Green Spiral: Incorporating the greenery of the park, a rooftop garden walk allows visitors to stroll through an elevated green pathway.
Knowledge Spiral: The primary vertical circulation space, connecting different floors visually and spatially, serving as a hub for diverse activities.
Eco Tube: A sustainable feature that brings natural light into the library's deep interior while effectively venting heat through atrium spaces.
Eco Skin: A façade made of low-emissivity (Low-E) double-glazed glass with a wood grain pattern.
Bookshelf Structure: Vibration-resistant bookshelves that reduce floor vibrations, integrating the park's greenery into the building's interior while creating a distinctive library space surrounded by books.
