Sororidad es una oda a la capacidad infinita de los cuerpos de crear y sanar. La pieza, realizada con tela empapada en concreto, se sostiene por la fuerza de la torsión y revela un tejido conectivo: esa trama invisible que en el cuerpo humano repara, sostiene y protege. La obra explora la resiliencia y la sanación, manifestando el vínculo físico y social que las mujeres construyen y mantienen. La manta de cielo, tela que remite al lenguaje doméstico de la cocina y del cuidado, conecta con generaciones de mujeres de mi familia que han querido o tenido que trabajar con textil. En contraste, la incorporación del concreto y su carga física transforma la fragilidad en fuerza energética. Con más de 350 metros de tela, Sororidad exige del cuerpo de quien la trabaja una transferencia directa de vitalidad. La pieza se teje en tiempo real, como un fresco tridimensional: largos y pesados lienzos que, al entrelazarse, construyen una entraña estructural. Es un retrato colectivo: cuerpos que encuentran fortaleza en sí mismos y en sus pares para sostenerse y crecer.

Durante mi embarazo, me fascinó el fenómeno celular llamado microquimerismo. Durante la gestación, la madre transmite células al bebé y viceversa. Incluso, células de hermanos y abuelas pueden llegar al feto, y este a su vez puede transmitirlas.
Las implicaciones son asombrosas: identitarias, sociales, terapéuticas. Se trata de la preservación viva de la memoria de generaciones pasadas y futuras dentro de cuerpos presentes.
La transmisión se desarrolla en un espacio único: la matriz femenina, encarnada en mi investigación « Matriz » (de la cual « Madre e hija » es parte) por la figura de moldes que se crean en cascada. Se hace un molde de una forma inicial, y a su vez de una parte de ese molde, y así sucesivamente.
Generaciones de moldes dan forma a nuevos rasgos identitarios, pero persiste una herencia en los reflejos de la forma cero, como la huella indeleble de los vínculos radicales que nos sustentan.

The pieces are born from my textile experiments. They each consist of 75m and 100m of textile, soaked in concrete and self-supported by the force of the continuous torsion imposed on it.
My work with textile has its roots in my foremothers, for whom this material was at the same time synonymous of autonomy and of the limitations imposed by their social role. This duality lives in the artworks: the cloth no longer exists as such. What remains is the memory of a cloth, of a gesture, of a vital energy.
After a period spent experimenting exclusively with ceramics, dipping the textile in clay & glaze then disappearing it through fire, I am starting to work another vision of memory here: memory as an element of construction. By endowing the knots with the charge of a tall, structural piece, I reveal a connective tissue, responsible in the human body for sustaining, protecting and structuring other tissues and organs. It resonates both with my reflection on being a woman in society and with the intimate healing of my wounded back.
The pieces are an optimistic vision. A creative tension, a moment of resilience necessary in the search for viability. An altar of gratitude to the body's infinite capacity to create, and to heal.

The Playground pieces explore the language of the negative. They derive from parts of ceramic productive molds, usually joined together like a construction game to pour in liquid clay and repeat similar shapes.
The pieces invite to take a different look at those use-ful objects. To actually look at them, for a start: to be present to a tool, to change the destination of our intention from use, to be with. The molds open up, take their independence, transmute from porous plaster to metal, allowing a new visual language to appear. From tool to landscape, the pieces mix their sculptural and functional origins and transform into maps inviting to take on new paths.

My new large, beautiful, bright studio is located in the midst of studioblockm74 's artist community and I am enjoying it so much!
Only missing a kiln, as it stayed in my previous studio 💔
.
But let me take a step back and tell you the story..
Some months ago, we suffered a heavy lead contamination at my previous studio, and were concerned by the health of various studio mates (who are now doing better!). There was lead powder everywhere and the studio had to be avoided (or entered at our own risk with heavy protective gear on, breaking bad style). I had a lot of exciting work to produce for different projects, and no safe place to do it anymore!
.
But I was an occasion to be creative, and I am so grateful for all the logistic help I got.
Also, being away from my controlled environment (including my space, tools, materials and mostly kiln) turned into an opportunity to explore with new materials I had been thinking of for a long time, to push existing explorations towards a new limit, and to showcase the experimental results of this process during my first solo show at
.
Now I'm all set to start a new chapter in my practice. To resilience, and new adventures!
