I was planning to propose to him on a yacht. He beat me to it with a cake in Lonavala.
I met Avinash on a dating app in 2021 when he was just visiting Mumbai. It started casually… easy conversations and no pressure. It was so smooth that we kept talking for 6 months without it being brought up that he doesn't actually live in Mumbai but in Singapore.

And I found out he actually lived in Singapore. That scared me because long distance had never worked for me, and I was very clear… I didn’t want to try again. And I told him honestly.
“Hang on.” he said. And within a month, he came to Mumbai, and we finally decided to meet. The short evening plan turned into a conversation that lasted till 4 a.m. And c’mon… We all know that you don’t talk that long unless something real is happening!!! We met again the next day, and the next and then everyday until it was time for him to go back.
After that, no matter how far apart we were, the connection was too strong to ignore. He started visiting every other month, and when he wouldn’t, we’d be on calls and messages. Eight to nine months in, I realised something. We were both in our late 30s, and we were madly in love with each other.
So the only next step was proposing to him for engagement on a yacht. But he beat me to it. On a trip to Lonavala, he tricked me into opening a big unknown box and there it was: a cake that asked, Will you marry me?”
YESSS, I said!!! Five months later, through family challenges and planning everything ourselves, we got married in Feb 2023… Sometimes, the longest distances lead you exactly where you’re meant to be. 💛
