After rebuilding their aircraft days before competition, Auburn Engineering’s Design Build Fly team finished 9th internationally and 1st in the SEC at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Design Build Fly competition in Wichita. Pardon our progress 🚧

If things look a little different around our side of campus lately, that’s because construction is officially underway. If you haven't heard we are expanding the Design and Innovation Center and building the new AIM Lab at the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering — and it’s exciting to finally see it happening.

There may be a little noise and a few detours along the way, but it’s all leading to more room to create, build and experiment. Thanks for bearing with us while we work on something really special.
For mechanical engineering student Tyler Wilks, Auburn isn’t just where he goes to school — it’s been part of his story for as long as he can remember. From childhood game days and shouting “War Eagle” to hands-on internships and lifelong connections, Auburn University has always felt like home.

As a mechanical engineering major, Tyler loves the freedom to explore everything from cars to energy systems — and he’s already putting those skills to work. During his internship at Honda, he helped improve assembly line efficiency, seeing firsthand how Auburn’s classroom lessons translate to the real world.

And beyond academics? The community sealed the deal. From the Brown-Kopel Center to fellow students and mentors, Tyler says the support within Auburn Engineering is unmatched.

Once Auburn Family, always Auburn Family. That's #WhyAuburnWednesday 🧡
Big congrats to Brenna McAlister, a freshman in chemical engineering, on receiving the Valero 2026 Freshman Engineering Summit and Scholarship!

The award includes a four-day experience at Valero’s headquarters in San Antonio, hands-on industry exposure and a $1,500 scholarship. From getting involved with Society of Women Engineers and Engineers Without Borders to representing Auburn Engineering on a national stage, Brenna is making the most of her first year on the Plains. We can’t wait to see what she does next. 🧡💙
Move over Dmitri Mendeleev and make room for Konstantin Klyukin, an assistant professor of materials and mechanical engineering. While the new Russian research machine may be in search of the holy grail of catalysis, it’s gonna have to wait 20 minutes for this next podcast.

Five members of the Auburn iRacing team — Pierce Hanley, Kamron Yousuf, Kaitlyn Smith, Stephen Russell and Micah Farmer — along with faculty advisor Andrew McGill visited the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, May 3, where they worked alongside Dallara, a premier motorsports manufacturer and leader in motorsports simulation.

The group supported Dallara’s trackside simulator activations and engaged with guests from around the world. They also had the opportunity to watch practice sessions and races across multiple series, including the Porsche Carrera Cup, McLaren Trophy America, Formula 2, and Formula 1.

Clay. Kilns. Fluid dynamics. Not your typical engineering class.

Chemical engineering freshman Brenna McAllister is taking ENGR 1770: Engineering Principles for Pottery — a course where airflow, pressure and physics come to life through clay. One wrong angle? It won’t work. And once it’s fired in the kiln, there’s no fixing it.

From working flutes to puzzle jars with hidden channels and chambers, students are learning core engineering concepts by actually building something — and sometimes failing along the way.

Engineering isn’t just equations. Sometimes, it’s hands-on, creative and a little messy.
Meet Aidan Bosman, a civil engineering graduate research assistant whose passion for water brought him from Colorado to the Plains. From stormwater research at Auburn’s Stormwater Research Facility to hands-on work restoring Hickory Dickory Park, Aidan is turning research into real-world impact.

Drawn to Auburn by a personal invitation into stormwater research and inspired by growing up around drought and water challenges, he’s now helping improve waterways, protect communities and shape the future of water management.

Why Auburn? Real projects. Real impact. Real purpose. That's #WhyAuburnWednesday
