♥️This personal favorite list was inspired by who has been such an inspiration to me!!
My favorite 11 aren't in any order, cus I just couldn't choose that, but the last one might be my top favorite concept of the year. I poured my soul into that concept and it was very challenging to light and edit. That was my most emotional session of the year.
Out of 11 favorites, 9 of them were original concepts that I'm really proud of, and 2 of them (Toxic & Flashdance) were recreations that I had on my bucket list for many many years, and I like to think I added my own flare to them. These 11 were all challenging in different ways, for lighting or editing, to how to do the concept safely, yes some of them were painful, either emotionally or physically.
I have stories about each one of these and their challenges:
💥I didn't expect Flashdance to be so physically challenging and *painful!!
💥How the Autumn pinup fake leaves and tiny fibers that got in my eyes and scratched them up.
💥How spray painting dots in a small room (using a paint mask) made our whole house smell and I still got dizzy while shooting.
💥How when shooting "Toxic" with the least amount of clothes, I was stuck doing it on the garage at 3am and it was below 40°F because I had a migraine during the day.
💥 Andy holding me upside-down on the stairs came with a lot of risk, but also all the blood rushing to my head was something I didn't think about prior 😂
💥I had "Ghost" in my head for a year and I barely could get through it emotionally
There's so many stories about each concept, from conception to execution, and this is why I love doing creative conceptual self-portraits. They are hard. Photographing yourself is so hard. You are everything, the photographer, the model, the costumer, prop builder, makeup artist, hair stylist, set designer, and you go broke putting them together cus you are your own client.

This is inspired by the music video, which is known for its use of a fisheye lens. I set out to incorporate that style, add some 90's vibes, the iconic tank top, and of course, ACTUALLY BUILD A SPIDERWEB OUT OF PHONE CORD. I'm pretty proud of this concept.

As the lens has no autofocus/tracking, I used manual focus on a grey card where my face was going to be before stepping in. I used the interval timer to do rounds of about 20-30 photos each setup. I experimented with many angles. I used a deeper DOF at f/11 to give me some posing wiggle room and also I spent a lot of time on that spiderweb for it to be out of focus!

Flashdance (1983) with the iconic water/chair dance scene. I felt like I really related to this character in my 20's, going back to school (for photography) by day and dancing at night.
What really made this awesome was my lens filter soft white mist, it made the water backlit by the light GLOW! It almost looks like, hmmm, sparks from welding? (Welding was the main character's job by day, dancer by night). So, shout out to WalkingWay for sending me some awesome new filters to play with!
I grew up watching all the dance movies, and I really loved retro & vintage ones.

EDITS: this was a very easy composite. I erased the ladder, Andy & the bucket on the right, and then I took the best pouring shots and layered them above me to make it look like the water was coming from higher up.

The song she actually dances to during this number is "He's a Dream", but I decided to use "What a Feeling" because it's more recognizable.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOSE PLUGS 😂 OMG you guys I got so much water up my nose 😂 and water hitting you from that height isn't as pleasant as I thought 😂

This is a 25 photo/layer composite. No Ai. I've had this image in my head for a long time, to look like a surreal dream. I had never taken a "branding" shot with a camera, so here it is, my photography branding shot with a camera 😂. I think this really represents my humor, style, and love for creative concepts and composites. Plus, it's a self-portrait, so it represents my work too.
Get ready for some funny BTS videos from this shoot!
Thank you Andy, for holding my (almost) full weight upside-down by one ankle and never dropping me. We did three rounds of about 30+ shots using my interval timer set to every 4 seconds. I did not feel good after this shoot 🤪 all the blood rushing to my head.
