And it’s definitely a bold one. I’ve always thought the smallest room in the house is where you can have the most fun, and I really leant into that here.
It’s a compact space (roughly 1.7m x 0.8m), which made finding the right sized pieces a bit of a challenge, but I managed to source the cutest little marble sink. Paired with unlacquered brass taps from Morocco (that will age beautifully over time), fluted glass lights, and of course… the real stars of the show: the tiles and wallpaper.
There was quite a bit of space left behind the stud wall housing the toilet cistern so rather than waste the space we popped a cupboard in the back wall - you can never have enough storage!
It’s probably a bit of a marmite design, and I definitely didn’t play it safe, but I absolutely love it even if having a wee is a bit of a psychedelic experience 😆

To keep a little piece of that trip alive, I planted a Japanese cherry blossom in the garden (alongside a Korean lilac). They’ve become the perfect reminders of spring - and of the trip we STILL need to rebook.

I’ve wanted to paint the hallway doors blue for so long, but Dan wasn’t convinced, so I just went ahead anyway:) (Tbh I think he was just glad that as it was my little project I did 100% of the work myself). And now? They’re blue. And I love them (and so does be).
I actually had this blue paint left over in the shed from when I painted our bedroom blue last year on a whim (it didn’t stay blue for long) and it was the PERFECT light blue to work perfectly with our putty coloured walls, green staircase and the pink living room. Kismet!
After a few days of filling, sanding, caulking, painting and more painting (god what felt like endless painting!…), all the downstairs doors and architraves are done. I also colour-matched the skirting to the walls and ceiling for a softer look, and gave everything a freshen up.
Proof that sometimes you just have to trust your gut (even if your husband isn’t convinced at first 😅)

How gorgeous are these ranunculus? I love their soft, ruffled petals and all the shades of pink (they look almost like tiny roses).
It’s such a simple little thing, but opening the shutters in the morning and seeing them in full bloom instantly lifts my mood.
Spring really is starting to show up in the loveliest ways!

I have been so slack posting on my grid over the past year so thought it about time I add in some unfiltered & un-styled kitchen photos, as otherwise it’s unlikely that I will ever remember to post any!
The kitchen is 80% finished. We still have a few snags to do, like painting the door & fitting the surround, finishing off behind the dining nook & the back of the peninsula (we are missing some skirting & plaster here after having some new electrics sockets put in last month) & the big job - making the cabinetry for the coffee cupboard/toaster area/bar/larder/space for all my posh crockery (basically a big Mary Poppins bag cupboard), but from where it was this time last year, it feels like a dream!
(Also, just a reminder of how clever my husband is as he not only built this extension but also made the beautiful kitchen cabinetry himself!)
We’ve gone for a bit traditional kitchen cabinetry with a kind of mid century modern twist - I’m not sure how else to describe this?

Dan has been chipping away at it slowly - just a few hours here and there - but it’s amazing how it’s all starting to take shape. The limestone pavers are going down beautifully; I love how their soft, natural tones catch the light at different times of day. They’ve really started to bring that warm, Mediterranean feel I’d imagined for the garden along with our curved & wavy plant borders which I cannot wait to plant ready for next spring/summer.
It still has a way to go, but for the first time I can see the vision coming to life, and it’s so exciting!
