Many times people are afraid to cut the nails as they dont want to hurt the guinea pig, but I can assure its not as tricky as you may think.

One thing I know for certain- if you put male and female rodents into a cage together, they WILL have babies.
Also lets talk about something.... pet stores constantly mixing up male and female rats.
Uh.... I genuinely don't know how thats possible. I'm going to be frank here. Male rats have ginormous testicles, even from a young age of only a month old. Female rats obviously do not.
If you truly feel the need to buy a pet store rat please please please double check. But this is just one of the reasons to rescue- we wont do you dirty like this. And now we have 11 new lives to look after.

Degus look like large gerbils but are actually more similar to chinchillas. Degus live on average between 5-8 years, so they are a big commitment. They prefer a temperature between 65-75 F, not too hot. Degus are very social and do make a variety of noises to convey different messages.
Degus need large muti-level cages, like rats or ferrets that are chew proof. They are big chewers and need things in their cage to chew on. At the moment Griffin and Phoenix can be adopted in the cage they are currently living in, a double critter nation cage.
Griffin and Phoenix enjoy running on their large Niteangel wheel and make full use of their cage. They are awake during the day and eat degu food which is not usually found in pet stores but can be found online at Chewy or Amazon. Degus are herbivores so need timothy hay, vegetables along with pellets. They need to avoid any treats containing sugar because degus are prone to diabetes.

Coatimundi and kinkajous are so cute but we cannot stress how much work and upkeep they are.
Things can change for even the most well intentioned owners and I cannot stress to you how little options there are if you need to rehome these animals.
Please, if you see baby coatimundi (coatis) and kinkajou for sale, do not buy them. They are extremely unpredictable and messy. They aren't happy in a ferret cage even if the pet store assures you they will be.
