Selamun Alekum. Greetings of peace, from the Turkish community based in Germany. When I was planning to travel to cologne, one of the main attractions I wanted to visit was this mosque. I have spent time googling as well as saw people from Instagram visiting this beautiful mosque. I even booked a hotel for a day near the mosque to pray Friday prayers. โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
There are so many things I liked about this mosque and if you followed my Live IG stories (on Highlights now), you will see the excitement. Here are few things I liked about it. โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
1. The architecture; its a German architecture combined with Turkish influence (inner decorations). The inner decorations were so magnificent and grand. It's a combination of modern architecture with historical influence. It was really clean and well looked after. โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
2. Its an all in one mosque, which provides services beyond daily prayers,i.e. Funeral services, a small shopping complex with halal restaurants, clothing shops, bank and home products. โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
3. The people were friendly and prayer experience was different. It was really a serene experience when we spent time at the mosque. โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
If you ever visit Kรถln, it's a well worth a visit place, easily accessible by public transport. โฃโฃ

Hallo was such an amazing welcoming word used in almost all instants, in every conversation starter in Germany. Its just a word, but I found it very positive usage of this word and it felt friendly. By the third day out of my four days stay in cologne, Germany, even I started using Hallo as a conversation starter, and then I spoke in full English ๐. It makes a big difference when you greet someone with a positive greeting along with a smile. I always try to learn greetings of every country I have visited so far and use it most appropriate way and in return I got great responses, positive attitudes or when any help needed. โฃ
โฃ
Now, I want to know of any other ways of positive greetings used in various countries and cultures. Please share below how you greet in your country/culture? Or if you have felt positive by greetings from your travels, share away. โฃ

Story continued... So, hear this out, I left my brand new wife with some strangers in the middle of the desert, with no phone on me, looking for a dead iPhone, after the sunset, in an open desert, on a trail that can be easily wiped off with small gust of wind and on a quad bike with dimmed headlights on. How crazy was that? ๐คฆโโ๏ธ After 25 mins, we came back empty handed. I saw my wife sitting down like an orphan with a Norwegian tourist couple. When she saw me, she asked, "Are you crying?".
I said "Nooo (in a confident voice), it was the wind and the sand which got into my eyes". (I promise I didn't cry ๐). My journey back to hotel was the most saddest journey ever, knowing that I just buried my iPhone in the desert. RIP.
When we came back to London, I was obviously not a rich man after all the wedding and holiday spending. It was impossible to buy a new iPhone for ยฃ700 again. So I had to downgrade myself to an android (Shame! Shame!). And that was how I got converted. It was painful as I maintained my loyalty as an apple fanboy for solid 7 years.
The End.
Have you ever lost your phone on holiday? How did you deal with the situation?
I am not sure if this place has one of the saddest story or the happiest. It's a mixed feeling I guess. Thinking about it makes me want to cry but at the same time I had to accept the reality, Qadr of Allah, I guess it was in my destiny.
So, this is a story about a convert or a revert. Before we travelled to Egypt, I got married and it's only been 2 months. I also bought a brand new iPhone 6s for ยฃ700, which was same price as both our return tickets to Egypt. On our journey to Hurghada, we went via Amsterdam, then stayed at Istanbul for 3 days, then went to Cairo and stayed there for 4 days including attending an Egyptian wedding on the river nile cruise, then flew to Hurghada and stayed over for 4 days. Now imagine the photos and videos I had taken on my phone.
On the second last day of our trip in Hurghada, we decided to take part in a desert excursion with a buggy. The excursion base was one hour drive away from our hotel and then another 40 min with the buggy on the desert to reach the rest place for some camel ride, arabic coffee and sunset observation. The happiest part of the excursion was that I got to drive the buggy freely without holding a proper driving license. As a non driver, my wife (who is a driver) had a desire that one day her husband drives her around and I fulfilled her desire.
On our way back to the excursion base on the buggy, my iPhone battery ๐ died. So I put my phone away in my pocket. The ride was a bumpy one. When we reached the base, as I got off the buggy, I realised my iphone was missing ๐ฎ. My heart paused for a moment. I notified one of the excursion leader about it, he came and checked the buggy, dismantled the seats and checked again. It wasn't there. Now the guy seemed a bit worried and he asked one of his quad biking instructor to take me with him and follow the buggy trail we used. At that very moment I made a split second decision to jump on that guys quad bike to rescue my iPhone.
Does that make me an apple fanboy? โฌ๏ธ Please don't say, Eehh Yeaaa, I dunno.
Storyเฅค Part 2 continued on next post...
From what we observed, its also a place of Ishq (Love). Lots of couples come here to express their love ๐๐. We walked in every corner of the park to get full view, and view from top is amazing. I would definitely recommend visiting the park if you are in Cairo, probably avoid weekends when it gets busy, but it's worth a visit.

Comment โฌ๏ธ
The tower was really narrow and the steps to reach the top of the tower were uneven and some were broken. But once you reach the top, the view was really amazing and worthy.
