January: Sensorio, Paso Robles. After all the Christmas show ended, this magical place is perfect to enjoy in January without the usual summer Paso Robles heat. It gets cold at night though so bring a warm jacket.
February: Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery, San Simeon. Winter is pupping season, so you can often see moms and pups on the beach from the viewpoint 🥹
March: Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, Lancaster. Peak bloom usually happens in March, but timing can shift depending on rain and temperature. I have big hopes for this year after all the rains!
April: Ladder Canyon, Chuckwalla National Monument. Spring has the most comfortable temps for this canyon loop before the desert heat kicks in.
May: Lake Shasta Caverns, Lakehead. You get warm days for the boat ride, and the cavern tour stays cool year-round.
June: Skunk Train Railbikes, Fort Bragg. Early summer is a great time for railbikes before peak crowds, and the coast stays mild.
July: Crystal Cave, Sequoia National Park. It’s a perfect summer stop because the cave is cool inside, even when it’s hot outside. It usually opens for the season by July.
August: Trees of Mystery, Klamath. Coastal redwoods stay cool and misty in summer, and the canopy walk is great for photos.
September: Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve, Lee Vining. September has pleasant temps and calmer light for the tufa formations.
October: Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, Fish Camp. October is the best time for fall colors there!
November: Sunset Cliffs Cave, San Diego. In November negative tides align with sunsets there! Make sure to do a proper tide research and only go when it’s negative!
December: Salvation Mountain, Niland. Winter has the best desert temps for walking around and taking photos without heat haze.

I created this map about 3 years ago, and since then it’s grown a lot! Thank you so much for all your amazing feedback, I’m so happy you like it.
If you haven’t heard of it before, the map is very easy to use. You click two links from the email I send you and add two parts of the map to your Google Maps. After that, you can turn them on or off in the app at any time. You have access to the map and all future updates as long as Google Maps supports this functionality (hopefully forever).
It has all the best places in California: everything unique, beautiful, and worth checking out. The easiest way to use it is to decide where you’re going, zoom into that area, and check each pin along with its pictures and reviews. Sometimes I add additional notes as well.

A year ago this week, I quit my engineering job to become a full-time content creator 🫢
I didn’t plan to quit, as I always enjoyed coding. However, over time, I grew curious about what it would feel like to have the freedom to pursue my own projects 24/7. So, when my company began a series of layoffs, I volunteered to be on the list 🙈
There are a lot of pros and cons to running your own business, especially in an unstable area like social media, but it is satisfying to learn more and more about it. I didn’t regret my decision even once during this year!
The best part is I am doing what I love and I am flexible to travel anytime. This makes me happy, and I really enjoy sharing it all with you 🫶
Here I talk about local gems in California in about 70% of my content, dedicating the other 30% to sharing guides and tips about the other states and countries I visit.
A couple more random facts about me:
* Road trips and photography are two my most favorite things, so you'll hear about them a lot
* I am originally from Ukraine and moved to California in the summer of 2018 to marry my favorite person
* Last summer I became a US citizen which made 2023 even more eventful for me
* I really love birds, so you'll see them in my stories often 🐦⬛
* I started Instagram in 2016 but had no idea what to do with it until about 3-4 years ago when I started taking it seriously 😅
Let me know what questions you have, and tell me something about you 😍 Also, what would you want to see on my page next?

📍Pictures from this past quite eventful year:
1. Rainbow Falls, Mammoth Lakes, California
2. Lakes Trail, Sequoia National Park, California
3. Vernal Falls, Yosemite NP, California
4. Alpe Di Siusi, Dolomites, Italy
5. Hobbitenango, Guatemala
6. Whitepod hotel, Monthey, Switzerland
7. Algar do Carvão, Terceira, Portugal
