609年4月8日 飛鳥大仏の開眼供養が行われたその日、飛鳥寺にて日本で初めてのお釈迦様の誕生法要が行われました。
本日は 本堂正面扉を開け、境内より飛鳥大仏を御参拝、釈迦誕生仏へ灌沐（甘茶かけ）頂くことが出来ます。
