He is very sick today. He had a great day yesterday and I think that was his last hurrah. His nose, gums, and eyelids are pale. He's stopped eating everything except treat pouches, and even that took about 30-40 minutes. He's weak and peeing on himself. He's lost a pound in less than a week. All the lumps in the full body picture of him are his bones. It's time.

Aslan is with a trusted pet sitter this weekend while we visit family for a late Christmas. She understands that he is palliative and is giving him care based on the vet's and our requests/recommendations. He is continuing to eat but how much he eats is inconsistent. He is being kept comfy and warm and with a tummy as full as he wants it to be.
I'm very sad to let everyone know that the wobbly king's reign will be ending later this week.
He's just too weak and too sick. He's a little skeleton, he can't gain weight, his labs are all over the place, his appetite is non-existent, he's become averse to good, and his chronic diseases and age have taken too much of a toll on his body.
There isn't anything I can do that is kind or fair for him except giving him time at home in front of the fire and being willing to say goodbye.
He was seen by the vet a few weeks ago for being lethargic and not eating super well. He was down to 8# 6oz. There wasn't anything apparent going on, so he came home and we've been stuffing him like a thanksgiving turkey. He's been eating at least 300 calories per day to help with weight gain.
A few days ago he mostly lost his appetite again and would only eat a few bites. I've had to put food in his mouth and "force" feed him multiple times now because his blood sugar bottoms out into the 20-30 range. I've adjusted his insulin down but there are still concerns about his appetite.
At the vet this morning, he was down to 8# 4oz, even though we increased his calorie intake significantly. I'm concerned that there is a serious issue going on, as well as having concerns about his quality of life because of these issues. Send all your good thoughts while we wait to hear from the vet today.
