ad | Enjoy a 250g Argentine marinated rump or sirloin steak as part of NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week’s menu who are offering three courses for £25.

Bearing in mind Gaucho’s 220g rumps are usually £20 on their own, this is a great value menu offering an empanadas starter with a choice of fillings like sweet potato, beef, or chicken and chorizo or chunky minestrone soup followed by mains like The Gaucho Burger, or the 250g sirloin (£5 extra charge) with chimichurri sauce and chips or salad.

Desserts include warm chocolate brownie with white chocolate ice cream (think cookie dough texture) or sticky toffee pudding served with vanilla ice cream and swimming in sauce.

The vibe is always great here, mood lighting, plush interiors and a gorgeous wine list plus their pecan old fashioned is excellent.

Add on a béarnaise or peppercorn for £2.

You can enjoy this Restaurant Week offer from Monday 12th to Saturday 18th January.

As 2026 gets underway, a brief reintroduction to say Hi!
2025 - it’s been quite the adventure! Let’s see what 2026 has in store!
ad Our recent stay at Newcastle’s hottest new hotel was dreamy and dramatic! Incredible interiors and plenty of theatre awaits at this former fire station turned luxury hotel in the centre of the city. Full review coming on the Luxe Bible website. #hotelgotham #newcastlehotels #luxuryhotels
in Tynemouth is one of the North East’s most unique restaurants housed in an 1860s church.

We started with The Golden Lantern cocktail with an innovative mix of Absolut Mango and Honey, mango puree, hot honey syrup and lemon and the Velvet Fang made with Kraken black cherry and vanilla, dark rum, cherry syrup and pineapple juice.

Plum braised short ribs were chunky yet delicate cubes of soft beef topped with a five spiced potato. Watermelon duck salad complimented the flavours with chunks of sweet red watermelon, crispy duck, watercress and sugar snaps for texture and a delicious orange and hoisin sauce which we soaked up with salad leaves.

For main courses, the sizzling ribeye brought plenty of theatre to the table with the red wine and black pepper sauce poured over the meat by our fabulous server Rachel. Cooked as requested ‘a good medium’ there was still some pink to the meat with slightly charred ends which held loads of flavour.

We also tried the lamb red curry which was quite heavy on the lemongrass but fragrant and warming with coconut, garlic and ginger. We upgraded to fried rice and added some super tasty salt and pepper fries on the side.

Dessert proved too tempting to resist as there’s a special Christmas menu with a ginger creme brĂ»lĂ©e on it! A good crack of brittle caramelised sugar gave way to creamy ginger infused custard served with a fresh strawberry on the side. We also tried the festive White Christmas made with Vanilla vodka, white chocolate Mozart, coconut puree, white chocolate syrup, double cream and a coconut and flake rim - definitely a dessert cocktail and we loved the coconut flakes.

A unique setting, a bold menu and the service was fantastic.

on Newcastle’s Quayside is busy every night of the week and we couldn’t wait to see what all the fuss was about!

This gorgeous cosy and stylish Greek restaurant on Side is small but perfectly formed - much like their small plates which come out the kitchen as they’re ready rather than all in one go.

2-3 sharer plates each is a good amount so you’ll get a great opportunity to try a bit of everything if you’re going in a group and you’re not fussy eaters!

There are 6 brand new dishes on the menu which are:
Pork Kontosouvli Skewer
Salparos Chicken Gyros
Grilled Haloumi
Loukoumades feta
Beef stifado
Anchovies Bruschetta

We absolutely loved the anchovies - absolutely bursting with flavour - fresh juicy tomatoes, chunky anchovies and tonnes of olive oil and just cooked bruschetta.

Beef stifado was hearty and satisfying (especially in this weather!) and there was plenty of lovely soft meat and a good rich stifado sauce.

The pork skewers with a squeeze of lemon were super tasty and smokey with a creamy garlic sauce on the side and the Salparos chicken gyros was a fancy version of what you’d order at the end of the night - loads of texture and flavour on a big fluffy flatbread.

If you’re out for Christmas drinks, pop here before or after and try out some of their new dishes.

ad Dakwala’s Indian Christmas Feast menu is such great value for money!

Until 30th December you can enjoy this awesome offering for four or more guests and it’s only £34.95pp.

Enjoy a welcome glass of fizz and canteen munchies which include fresh poppadoms and a range of homemade chutneys (the tamarind at Dakwala is amazing) along with a twist on the classic tostada - these minis come loaded with tandoori avocado and pomegranate.

Then choose a feast platter starter per person and sample a range of gorgeous tasty bites. I went for the meat option with a chunk of Tandoori salmon, street-styled spiced turkey skewers and Hariyali chicken breast which has been marinated in cheese, cream, fresh ginger and Tellicherry peppercorns. Andrew tried the Vegan Feast just so we could see how the Tandoori soya chops tasted and wow, we couldn’t actually believe it wasn’t meat, coated in the most delicious aromatic spices.

Make sure you leave plenty of room for the main courses because this certainly is a FEAST! There’s a selection of curries to choose, but we had Methi Malai paneer (if you like fenugreek this is the one for you), and the Parsi Lamb Salli Boti - the meat was so soft it just fell apart, and the curry itself was rich with Parsi spices (a blend of Persian and Indian including cardamon and cinnamon, fragrant cumin and nutmeg and garam masala.)

For the table, you’ll also get pulao rice, naan breads, festive berry potatoes and the creamiest black lentil dahl.

You might need a break like we did before dessert, but make sure you don’t skip it because the Sticky Toffee Christmas Pud is out of this world, served with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.

A fantastic value Christmas menu at £34.95pp - we’d highly recommend!

One of our best meals we’ve eaten this year by a mile was at on Gosforth High Street.

Family run and serving up local produce and foraged ingredients with a seasonal menu, their 3 course set menu is great value at two courses for ÂŁ30 and three courses for ÂŁ35.

The beautiful restaurant is a blend of natural textures with honey toned tables, and parquet flooring, rustic exposed stone walls and the playful mural of an octopus!

We loved the big windows allowing plenty of natural light into the restaurant and making the perfect people watching spot.

The Pink Lane focaccia arrived warm and fragrant, soaking up what tasted like very high quality extra virgin olive oil like a sponge. The squid ink and crayfish arancini’s crisp-shelled spheres were delicious, lifted beautifully by a bright red pepper sauce that added freshness without overwhelming the seafood.

From the set menu, the smoked mackerel pĂątĂ© is a standout—silky, smoky, and cleverly cut through with the tang of cauliflower pickle on freshly toasted sourdough.

Mains continue the theme of refined comfort. The salmon and haddock fish pie is a generous portion size, creamy in texture with winter vegetables adding earthiness and colour.

Herb-crusted hake was a perfectly cooked fillet beneath the crisp, aromatic crust, and a vibrant madras lemon sauce really woke up the dish with mild curried notes and a fresh tang to finish.

We finished with an affogato and a sweet sauternes.

Mixing up the specials with the main menu gave us more choice but honestly everything we tried was absolutely outstanding.

[AD] A luxurious Afternoon Tea experience like no other! have launched a new menu which includes a range of delicious teas, Champagne, and sweet and savoury dishes served on a hand-crafted 3 tier tree!

Taking inspiration from Japan, Brazil and Peru, some of our fave savoury dishes included Highland Wagyu Katsu Sando (Japanese style sandwiches) with arenkha caviar, aji panca which are mild and fruity Peruvian chili peppers, wagyu steak and a hit of sweet garlicky goodness from the Sriracha mayo; Green Bean Tempura which had a perfect crisp to it and tasted heavenly dunked in to-die-for creamy black truffle aioli; and the Samba Waffle Taster with three gorgeous fillings stuffed into the waffle ridges – spicy tuna with avo, snow crab with chilli and sweet potato.

There are too many good desserts to choose a favourite, but the Chocolate Cremeux is definitely a decadent treat with 66% rich dark chocolate, miso, yuzu and yoghurt. A total taste sensation!

I went for the Chocolate Noir tea which had rich chocolate notes and was delicious served black, but there are 9 to choose from – all Canton Teas

And for a glass of Laurent-Perrier Brut, it’s only £10 extra and definitely worth every penny!

Sushisamba Edinburgh’s Afternoon Tea is £65pp, £75pp with a glass of champers, or £100pp with a glass of Laurent-Perrier Grand Siùcle.
