Last week, we were honored to craft a projection alongside acclaimed advocacy artist Robin Bell - which lit up the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C.
In a show of movement and light, we projected wild horses, show jumpers, Thoroughbreds, and donkeys five stories tall to the music of Billie Eilish, as passersby stopped and took pause.
As said, “It’s great to bring my skill and my craft to causes like this. Moving issues through art today - it’s absolutely essential.”
As filmmaker and WBF Founder continued, “Art is storytelling, art is purpose, and we’re able to make change by igniting the imagination, waking people up, and reminding them that these issues matter.”
Thank you, Robin, for standing with the Lost Horses - and to everyone who has been part of this journey.

Thank you, Congresswoman for all the incredible work you, and your office, do.

We are deeply grateful to the Academy Award-nominated actress, known for her unforgettable performances in cinema, for lending her iconic voice to our latest PSA.
This story honors the enduring grace of the Thoroughbred - a horse woven deeply into American sport, culture, and history - and spotlights the responsibility we bear to them once their racing days are over.
A Thoroughbred’s Grace shines a light on a racehorse whose strength, beauty, and spirit once captivated grandstands across the country, but who falls through the cracks after his professional days are over, left vulnerable with an uncertain future.
As the racing world gathers for Triple Crown season, this story serves as a reminder that our responsibility to the Thoroughbred extends far beyond the finish line.
We are deeply grateful to organizations such as 1/ST for standing with The Lost Horses and helping lead important conversations around lifelong protection and aftercare, along with those supporting the SAFE Act, from The Jockey Club to the Breeders’ Cup.
Thank you, Diane, for lending your voice to this movement.

Last year, I stood in an auction yard in Texas, watching several notorious kill buyers load dozens of horses onto a trailer. These animals were among more than 25,000 horses and donkeys exported for slaughter in 2025. That number represents a 25 percent increase from the previous year and signals the continued expansion of a dark system that persists, despite years of public opposition and growing congressional attention.
Recent polling shows that 83 percent of Americans oppose horse slaughter and the export pipeline that enables it.
The Save America’s Forgotten Equines Act has attracted 230 bipartisan cosponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives. Lawmakers from both parties have recognized that the current system is broken, inconsistent and out of step with their constituents.
Congress has already taken partial action. It has not finished the job. Until it does, the slaughter pipeline will continue to function as it does today, with predictable outcomes.
The horses I watched loaded onto that trailer were retired racehorses, lesson ponies and former show jumpers. They had worked, performed and carried people for years. They should not end their lives in a system that treats them as disposable.
Congress has the authority to close this chapter. After years of partial measures, there is no longer a credible reason to leave it unresolved.
It is time for Congress to meet the moment and act.
Right now, we are at a critical tipping point in the fight to end the slaughter of American horses across United States borders.
We are calling upon everyone. Every advocate, equestrian, celebrity, public figure, child, adult, and organization who understands the profound bond between humans and horses, and our responsibility to protect them.
Whether you knew a lesson pony as a child, took a trail ride, competed in the ring, or found healing through the power of equine therapy.
Would you speak out, if you knew your voice could help change all of this? If it could help save even one of the 25,000 horses lost every year?
Please, join us. Add your name, and sign on to The Lost Horses: Open Letter to Congress.

Thank you for being part of this journey, and for standing with the Lost Horses.
You were sitting on the window at the end of a long, narrow loft in downtown Los Angeles. I was twenty six, you were twenty four. I was immediately struck by your kindness, your intelligence, and the soul in your eyes. (Not to mention darling, you’re wildly handsome.)
A few weeks later, we had our first date. The first thing we ever discussed were our families. I knew that night, breathlessly and without question - you were the one.
Thirteen years. Traveling to places far and away. Working together, partnering on ever imaginable aspect of our lives. From our marraige, to film, and our nonprofit work on behalf of the wild world.
I love the man that you are. I love what we have done together, and for what is to come.
Happy meet-cute, my husband.
It tells the story of horses who served us, trusted us — and were forgotten.
Every year, tens of thousands of horses — Thoroughbreds, ex–show jumpers, discarded lesson ponies, wild horses, and even donkeys — are lost to the darkness of the export pipeline.
They are companions. Athletes. Therapy partners.
Lives who gave everything, only to be thrown away.
And in their final moments, one haunting question lingers:
What was I made for?
This powerful song carries that truth forward. Horses have been our partners for centuries — and no life deserves to be discarded.
Thank you, Billie, for sharing your compassion, grace, and artistry with The Lost Horses. Storytelling combined with advocacy has the extraordinary power to make lasting change in our world.
If this moved you, we ask you to join us in this movement. Raise your voice, share this film, and take action —
so no horse is ever lost again.
