Because time is now concealed from society, no one is aware of the timing for this order. [The Process]
To streamline the workflow for this teaser, I modeled buildings of Yoruba in Maya, staged the cameras and backgrounds in Blender, and brought it all into OpenToonz. I also 3D-modeled Javlok (the scorpion mech) to easily handle its different modes without having to redraw it repeatedly. The entire teaser took a little over a year to complete (March 2025 – May 2026), and looking back at my page, the growth since my initial 2020 trailer (over on YouTube) inspires me to keep going. Super proud of how much cleaner and more streamlined my creative process has become! I left a note in the comment section diving into my creative inspiration and how I improved over the years 👍🏾.

For the past few months, life has presented some unique changes in my personal life; all requiring a test of faith. I appreciate the messages and curiosity behind my sudden hiatus. The kind words and encouragement were warmly received by my family. Yah continues to show his power in my family, and we are forever grateful 😁. That being said we are back right where we left off!
Today, I’m incredibly excited to finally show everyone the official teaser trailer for my original graphic novel project, ARISEN.
[ 🎥 THE VISION ]
With ARISEN, I wanted to step away from traditional manga; and challenge myself with a full-color manga styled creative process. It is a story very close to home and provided growth for me as an individual walking through life. ARISEN is a character driven narrative, exploring the quieted themes of life not spoken on.
Through characters like Rikio, I want to explore what it means to know your identity, and the challenges that come when the entire world has a deep-rooted seed of confusion.
As you can see in the trailer, we are blending a striking manga aesthetic with rich, desaturated coloring to bring the world of ARISEN to life. And yes, for the mech fans out there...there are many designs: Like that giant, multi-eyed scorpion machine that transforms based on various combat situations. I let myself run a little wild with that design fr!
[ ➡️ THE CALL TO ACTION ]
Now that I’m back, creating a graphic novel was a long journey and will continue to have surprises that relies entirely on the passion of the ARISEN community. God Willing, I’m working incredibly hard on the production of Volume 2. More details for Volume 1’s official launch day will come in a later post!
