But what truly transformed it, from tense, awkward mornings into a real sanctuary - was the layout. An unused jacuzzi gave way to a soaring shower with a skylight. Split vanities tucked under a compressed roofline became a toilet room and linen closet, while the vanity moved across the room to a wall previously occupied by a tight shower and toilet.
Once the plan was resolved, the materials could take the lead: smoked oak, Calacatta Viola, and handmade ceramic tiles in a soft lilac tone. The result was composed, intentional, and quietly elevated.

Designed for the Harvard Society of Fellows—a community built on multidisciplinary exchange—we began with a simple question: how do you design for spontaneous conversation?
The answer wasn’t a single gesture, but a series of intentional choices. Varied seating -- from quiet, tucked-away corners to larger shared tables -- creates a range of ways to engage.
Historic architectural elements anchor the space, while a layered material palette brings warmth, calm, and just enough energy to invite interaction.
