It’s quite rare that hotel stays are actually relaxing for us, particularly if they’re work. Up with the sun to shoot before the other guests descend, chasing the light throughout the spaces and numerous setups. Not that I’m complaining, I love shooting hotels! It’s just objectively, not relaxing.

But our stay at (ad pr) in Hoi An, Vietnam, was a much needed wind down in the midst of a frenetic 6 months of travel. Our pool villa offered plenty to keep my camera busy, but in the between time we took dips, caught up on reading (with a bubble bath), or took the complimentary bikes up to breakfast to gorge on local delicacies. It was as peaceful as it gets, and the perfect antidote to Hoi An’s bustle.

I realised, going through the archives, (after lamenting the loss of that glorious summer tan) that I never shared these photos. And when the hotel looks this good, well that seemed like a shame. So if you’re looking for a Hoi An luxury stay away from the crowds, consider this your sign.

I’ve been enjoying seeing everyone’s 2016 throwback posts so much, I couldn’t resist going through my old archives and indulging in a bit of nostalgia. It was the era of festival chic, chokers and fringe with every outfit, overexposed flatlays and artfully curating pictures of your lunch.

2016 was a massive year in my life, so much so that I was going to write a whole self-indulgent caption about it - but I ended up stumbling upon my own words on my blog, looking back on 2016 at the end of the year. Who can tell it better than 2016 Anoushka herself?

ā€œFor me personally it’s been a bit of a weird one, with a lot of upheaval and a few fresh starts. I began my 2016 with heartbreak, finally graduated in the Summer, got a new job, fell in love when I least expected it, and ticked some major places off my bucket list.

At 23 my life still feels very much up in the air. Whilst the thought of becoming a 9-5er with kids and a mortgage terrifies me, 2017 for me is going to be about taking small steps towards putting down some roots and finally making that transition from reluctant graduate to ā€˜functioning adult’ (eek!). I’m not much of a New Years Resolution kinda gal, but this year I’d love to move out, and find a full-time role working somewhere I love.ā€

Apparently my big Instagram goal in 2017 was to hit 10k followers, and I seemed, at the grand old age of 23, very concerned with making the most of my supposedly dwindling youth šŸ˜… I’m not sure if 2016 Anoushka would be relieved or baffled to know that ten years on there’s still no kids or 9-5, and that that very blog (and Instagram!) became the full-time role…

P.S. I used to make yearly playlists of everything I was listening to each year, so I went back to 2016 for this soundtrack. What were you listening to back then? I’m living for the nostalgia!
I’ve always been a bit baffled by the millennial trope of being obsessed with Japan, when so much of Asia is so beautiful, culturally and historically remarkable, and enriching to visit for travellers. Don’t get me wrong, I understand why people love Japan, and Japanese culture - but it’s not the only country with these draws!

In some parts of China we saw no other foreign tourists, which when it’s this spectacular, is mystifying. Not that I’m complaining - it was quite novel to explore somewhere that felt, at least within the frame of Western mainstream tourism, relatively under the radar.

I look back on some of these frames and I can’t believe these ancient towns and landscapes actually exist, and that I got to see them for myself - and that this isn’t the result of a cruel AI bot, formulated to trick us into believing in a lie.

So I guess I’m obsessed with ancient Chinese towns, overlooking cascading waterfalls. The mountains of Zhangjiajie, the lights of Chongqing and Shanghai, late at night. But also the rush of cities in Vietnam, the vibrant colours and culture of George Town, Malaysia, and hell, I’ve raved so much about the hawker food in Singapore that it’s practically my whole personality at this point. I fall a little bit in love with every new place I visit, and the experiences they offer.

Locations featured: Wangxian Valley Town, Zhanjiajie, Furong Ancient Town, Chonqing and Shanghai.

Of all the destinations I’ve visited in Asia, I think Taiwan is one of the most underrated. It’s got the energy, the bustle, I associate with some of my favourite Asian cities. But there’s also a low key, laidback vibe, discovered amongst the early mornings, and less touristed sights.

We dedicated the lions share of our Taiwan trip to Tainan, the country’s oldest city, largely because we’d heard it had some of the best food in Taiwan. Our days were eating our way around the city, stopping by temples and exploring lantern-lined backstreets.

At night, Tainan comes alive. The street food markets, a different place every night. Hip restaurants, packed to the rafters. And secret speakeasies, for those in the know. My favourite find? A tiny late night cocktail bar hidden on the second floor of an early empty produce market. But you’ll have to read the guide to find out more…

Hi, I’m Anoushka, and I like hawker centre laksa and wonton mee, pretty Peranakan houses, and checking flight prices to Singapore on a daily basis. I’ve waxed lyrical about Singapore previously, but a good six months on, I’m still missing it (particularly looking out at my gloomy London street through a heavy sheet of rain right now…). There are some destinations you just click with, that feel almost like home from the moment you arrive, and Singapore was that for me.

I knew I’d like it for the food alone (which did not disappoint), but then there were the beautiful colourful streets, getting lost just exploring the rich heritage of different neighbourhoods. The warm locals (every cab driver gave us another can’t miss restaurant), eating satay on communal tables late at night, and making friends with Singaporeans and tourists alike. So consider this post me manifesting another Singapore trip, and soon.

A short but sweet Singapore bucket list:

- Discover why Singapore is known as the Garden City in Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Botanic Gardens, and Fort Canning Park
- Eat hawker food at Newton Centre, Hong Lim, Satay Street, Maxwell Centre
- See the colourful houses of Koon Seng Road, and dine at
- Explore Chinatown, Kampong Glam, Joo Chiat, Little India

I’ve put together a pretty perfect Singapore 3 day itinerary over on the blog - if you’d like me to send it straight over to you, just comment ā€œGUIDEā€.

I’m curious - if you could fly anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?

Comment ā€œGUIDEā€ for my free Vietnam Two-Week Itinerary straight to your DMs. It’s packed with all my favourite destinations, things to do, hotels, and the best places to eat across the country šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

We loved pretty much everywhere we visited on our big Asia travel adventure, but there were a couple of destinations that particularly left me wanting more. Vietnam was one such. I want to go back for the shopping in Hanoi and HCMC, the best banh mi in Hoi An, an iced coconut coffee pretty much anywhere. There’s also so many more places I want to visit - Dalat, Danang, Sapa, Cat Ba. It’s one of those destinations I can’t imagine you could ever exhaust or tire of.

Our trip itinerary:

3 Nights: Culture, history, and shopping in Ho Chi Minh City
3 Nights: Tailored clothes, ancient streets, and the best banh mi in Hoi An
2 Nights: The imperial citadel, Hue
2 Nights: Boat tours and hikes in ā€œHa Long Bay on Landā€, Ninh Binh
4 Nights: City life in Hanoi, with a night in Ha Long Bay

Comment SOUK below to get my full free Marrakech travel guide direct to your inbox, packed with beautiful restaurants, the best hotels, and plenty of things to do in the city šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

As the realities of January, the ā€œnew year, new meā€ restrictions and abstinence kick in (I’m doing dry Jan and no sugar, so please send your best wishes and motivation), I’m dreaming of dinner in Marrakech, surrounded by lanterns, trying pastilla, zaalouk, tagine.

I’ve captured a few beautiful restaurants in my time, but nowhere really compares to Marrakech. Here, restaurants are works of art, a riot of colour and texture that pays homage to the city’s rich design culture. Often restaurants that lean into aesthetics don’t put quite as much love into the food, but thankfully these are all as good as they look.

The temperatures have plunged to freezing here in the UK, and a red weather storm warning is brewing. I’ll admit, I’m idly checking skyscanner, musing over the cheapest, warmest getaways available. Returning to Marrakech is certainly on that list, because I would much rather the browsing the souks and capturing more aesthetic dining spots than huddled under five blankets in my thermals right now…

We went to Prague primarily to write a Christmas guide. Markets, mulled wine, trees and all the trimmings. But I kept finding myself getting sidetracked by the everyday beauty of Prague’s historic old streets. Ancient cobblestoned walkways (a real nightmare with my heeled boots…), flanked by pastel houses against a backdrop of the city’s iconic gothic spires.

There are many beautiful cities, and I’m grateful to have visited a few of them over the years, but few feel like transporting into an alternate fairytale realm quite like Prague. It is a city of epic proportions, of Shakespeare-esque tragedies, of lovers, witches, and maybe even vampires (the Bram Stoker kind, not the Twilight kind).

Sure, by 10am the crowds are heaving and the magic is dulled somewhat. But early morning, or late at night, it feels like the veil between this world and the fantasy realm is a little thinner.

What a surreal year it’s been. 2025 saw us finally embark on a long-term travel adventure around Asia, a trip we’d been dreaming, plotting, and saving for, for several years. Miraculously, we didn’t get too lost, robbed, or end up killing each other - a resounding success. And we finally experienced so many things we’d talked about doing, one day - trying hawker food in Singapore, exploring the Avatar Mountains in China, a houseboat along the backwaters of Kerala. You generally don’t know when you’re living the best days of your lives, but some of those moments, I suspect, may have been it.

The latter half of the year has been for slowing down, resting up (the post-trip burn out is real), reconnecting with loved ones - and catching up on all the boring life admin that builds up. But there’s been plenty of adventures along the way. Football trips to Albania, Latvia, Serbia (I got the worst food poisoning in Belgrade, so we don’t talk about that one..). Work and personal trips to Prague, Crete, Scotland, and back to India. A place that pleasantly surprised me? The alpine landscapes and fairytale-esque cities of Bosnia & Herzegovina. It’s high on my list to return to.

As we go in to 2026, it’s hard to know what the future holds. We want to move, largely so we can have a garden, and with it, a dog. Another pretty much lifelong dream of mine. How it’ll slot in to our day to day work and travels I have no idea, but that’s a problem for 2026 Anoushka. Our big trip next year is a BIG one, across the pond for the FIFA World Cup. Please don’t mention the ticket prices, I’m trying not to think about it!

I hope you’re ending 2025 happy and healthy, and have a wonderful NYE - whether it’s sequins on the dance floor till dawn, or in bed by 10pm. Ours is looking set to involve shepherds pie and a catan tournament - rock and roll, I know 🤘 Happy New Year! ✨
Merry Christmas my loves! I’ll keep it brief, with a few snaps from a Christmas Eve East London wander, because I’m sure you’re all up to far more important things like opening stockings and eating roasties.

We’ve done breakfast and presents with my folks (I have enough chocolate to see me well into the New Year, thanks Santa), and are now getting ready to go see Adam’s family for lunch (and pet their many dogs, an excellent addition to the Christmas traditions). I hope everyone has a wonderful day, whether you’re celebrating or it’s just another Thursday. Sending love! ā¤ļøšŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ»
