I life a hermit life in many ways.
Being in the city makes me sick. It hurts my soul.
It never felt healthy to be surrounded by so many people, so much noise, so much concrete, stone and stress.
So if I can avoid people and cities, I usually do.

As a result I live my life quite differently from what is deemed normal and desireable.
I don't have friends, I spend most of my time alone.
Some days I don't talk to anyone, sometimes only to my therapist, my sister or my dog.
I don't go out or party - the only hobbies I have I do alone.
I've never been in a relationship or even met someone I'm interested in.
I've never been drunk, smoked a cigarette or been to a concert - basically, most of the social stuff.

For some time I felt I was wrong for being like this - why can I not enjoy these things like others can?
Why can I not even cope with what seems to be such a big part of other people's lives?
It took some time to come to terms with the fact that I could not force myself into becoming someone else.
Maybe this is just who I'm meant to be.

I found that for everything out there that's not for me, there are twice as many things that add to my life.
That give my life joy & purpose.
My life is not empty.
It isn't void of beauty.
Just because it is quiet & slow & far from most things.
I live my life the best way I know how to:

Just as much as random acts of kindness will give me so much hope when I receive or witness them -
I believe that my actions, taken with love can do the same for others.
To be honest, I had become comfortable.
Comfortable with keeping to myself.
Keeping my love and kindness to myself.
Perhaps I was also scared.
I let my perspective of parts of humanity, influence and overshadow the reality of how most people are.
And most people are good.
They are kind and deserve kindness.
Even and especially when they don't believe they do.
I have really understood now, that my kindness is meant to be shared.
It isn't meant to be stuck in my thoughts.
So whenever I notice a kind thought of love or appreciation in my mind right now - I try my best to put it out into the world.
It might be a smile, a compliment or a physical gift.
There is so much to be gained in giving.
Not just for me, but for the way that everyone lives.
