बचपन में मुझे पढ़ने से ज्यादा रूचि पेंटिंग में थी, इसलिए मुझे जहाँ भी मौका मिलता, स्लेट, पेपर या दिवार हर जगह कुछ ना कुछ बनाने लगती। जब हर साल मुझे पेंटिंग के लिए स्कूल और कॉलेज में 1st प्राइज मिलता, तो सभी खुश होते। लेकिन वो इसे एक करियर के रूप में नहीं देखते थे।
लेकिन मैंने इसे अपना करियर बनाने का तय किया था। बहुत जल्द मैं अपने साजो-सामान के लिए छोटे-छोटे प्रोजेक्ट करने लगी, कई बार जब घर लौटने में रात हो जाती तो रिश्तेदार मेरे चरित्र पर सवाल उठाने लगे। उनके सवालों से बचने के लिए मैंने अपने दोस्त के घर पर रुकना शुरू कर दिया। कई मौके ऐसे भी आये जब मुझे किसी निर्माणाधीन बिल्डिंग में रात बितानी पड़ी। मुझे कुछ नया करना था हर रोज मैं अपने क्राफ्ट पर काम करती, जब सड़कों पर ग्राफिटी बना रही होती तो लड़के भद्दे कमेंट कर के जाते। कुछ लोग मेरी बनाई हुए ग्राफिटी को खराब कर देते, कुछ उसपे युरिनेट कर देते। लेकिन मैं इन सब से जूझते हुए आगे बढ़ रही थी। पर जब एक दिन एक क्लाइंट ने मुझे काम देने के बदले पर्सनल फेवर की मांग की तो मैं डर गई। मैंने इसे छोड़ने का फैसला किया, दूसरी तरफ पैसे ना होने की वजह से मेरी टीम भी मुझे छोड़ कर चली गई।
तब मेरी माँ ने मेरा साथ दिया और कहा 'तुम्हें इसका सामना करना चाहिए।' अगले दिन से मैं काम के लिए नए-नए लोगों से मिलने लगी और जल्द ही मुझे नगर-निगम से पानी की टंकी पर ग्राफिटी बनाने का कॉन्ट्रैक्ट मिला। मैंने एक बार फिर से नई टीम बनाई और काम को पूरा किया, इसके बाद कभी पीछे मुड कर नहीं देखा।
अब तक मैंने चार राज्यों में कुल पाँच सौ से ज्यादा म्यूरल पेंटिंग की है। 100 से अधिक लोगों को प्रशिक्षण दिया जो आप अपने पैरों पर खड़े हैं और मैं 40 लोगों की टीम के साथ हर रोज कुछ नया करने की कोशिश कर रही हूँ।
