Life is intense these days.
Global atrocities and the infringement of human rights assault our hearts and minds daily.
Horrors are happening we never thought we’d witness again.
Starvation used as a war tactic.
A repugnant President with no moral compass.
The world feels demoralized. In all corners of this broken planet-terror, sorrow and madness reigns.
Yet no matter how debased we feel it has become, the world is still incredibly beautiful and there is so much goodness inherent in people.
People who care about our country, our world and our planet. People who care about each other and look for ways to unite, heal, and understand.
Some days it’s exhausting to take it all in so some days I have to shut it all out.
For a moment.
I stay engaged and informed- but not at the expense of my emotional and mental health.
One of the things that helps me is to expect less from myself these days.
Not less OF myself- less FROM myself.
On days when I have more energy, I do more.
When I have less energy, I rest more. I listen to my body.
I also reach out more, I express words of love more. I forgive more and I speak out, even more.
Because, really, if not now, when.
But when the darkness of the world tugs at my peace I find solace in my loved ones, meditation and prayer.
Wherever you are in the world I wish you peace, love and a measure of comfort and safety.
