I made two plein air trips, spent many days painting outside, and somehow I already have around 40 plein air works from this season.
This is one of the paintings from Chamonix, France, where I spent a few days painting the mountains together with a wonderful group of artists.

I painted two more today, will share soon.
This palette is quite different from my usual one. When I work with the same colours for a long time, I naturally start to rely on familiar mixtures and they become my little formulas. Itās comfortable, but sometimes I feel it can make the process too automatic.
So I wanted to change things a bit.
Brecon Beacons set has more transparent organic pigments (more saturated and seep) than I normally use, and the biggest challenge was trying to reach my usual neutral, quiet colour range with a palette that behaves differently.
Itās still in progress, but I really enjoyed this experiment. Particularly Iām now happy with the depth of my background. Iāll share the finished painting soon.
The work is shown alongside 60 other finalists, selected from over 1,600 submissions.

This was a painting I made live during my online workshop, and Iāve felt especially close to it since. Thereās something in its atmosphere, light, and quietness that made me want to return to it and it felt like the right work to release as a print this spring.
