It’s been a BUSYYYYY week on the farm so I’ve been a little bit quiet on here, but thankful my husband got the fields worked, planted and fertilized 🤗
The growing season is short here in Ontario, but maybe that’s what makes it so beautiful.
A few fleeting months where the fields come alive, the sunsets hit different, and every early morning and late night carries purpose.
You learn to appreciate the seasons here because nothing lasts forever. The green fields, the warm air, the dusty roads, the sound of tractors running at sunset. It all comes and goes far too fast.
But for a little while, the land wakes up.
And so do we. 🌾
It didn’t just leave me with memories. It left fingerprints on my soul.
Unless you’ve ever been there, you have truly have no idea how a place reaches into your chest and pulls emotions out of you that you forgot were there.
No photo could ever explain the feeling of seeing Scotland for the first time.
When someone asks me my favorite place I’ve ever been. It’s this place.
It’s ancient. It’s sacred. It’s rugged and it’s wild!
Travel changes you in ways no one talks about.
This trip honestly changed me forever.
To wake up somewhere new.
To wander all day and come back tired but so content.
To collect once in a lifetime memories.
To see the world with open eyes and an open heart.
Today instead of sharing my work I wanted to share some of our travels. Since this is sort of like an online journal, I can share whatever my heart desires:) and I know a lot of you love when I share our travel in my stories.
This trip was two summers ago. We drove to Wyoming and Montana. And it was so beautiful, amazing, peaceful, magical.
We spent a lot of time in Teton national park, Yellowstone national park and the Glacier national park. We drove through paradise valley into Bozeman Montana where my grandpa was born and I wish I knew where their homestead was so I could visit it.
We even met up with our daughter and son in law in Glacier national park for a few days and camped in the mountains.
It was an unforgettable and unbelievable trip.
My husband and I love the west! Whenever we leave there we feel we left a piece of our heart there…..that’s what travel does. Every place you’ve travelled is etched in your soul and makes you fall in love with life and the world a little more.
One of these days I’m going to make an itinerary for ya’ll. I get constant questions about it. This trip and our Utah trip! So someday look out for that 🤗

My goodness this image is so raw and shows incredible grief and loss. But also shows all of a mother’s blessings.
It’s incomprehensible what Jess went through a couple years ago. Giving birth to a little girl named Sage, who is now an angel. I can’t imagine the anger and sadness and loneliness she’s had to endure.
The last number of sessions I’ve done with Jess and her family, we incorporated Sage’s baby picture. But this time it really hit Jess. Like a tidal wave and earthquake all at once!!!
I was capturing the moment and all of a sudden through my lens I saw Jess lose it. It was heartbreaking. I stood there and watched her. Tears streaming down my face, and her mother’s as well. We watched in stillness and let her feel everything. It was silent in that room. Complete silence.
I gave her a few minutes and then we resumed. And I captured the most beautiful newborn/family session with their kids, Cruz and Willow and their newest addition Banks. It was bitter sweet.
“I can’t believe that if she was here, he wouldn’t be yet. I feel so sad that she has been robbed of our love.”
Not even possible I told her. “Sage sent banks. She will always live in you and in banks. If anything, Sage taught you all to love even more, and to live every moment.”
This is why I have such a passion for my job. Capturing pure and raw emotion. As beautiful and sad as it can be. The real moments caught and frozen in time.
A mother’s love is bigger and wider than the skies and oceans and somehow her heart has room for joy and grief at the same time.
I’m in awe of mothers. And Jess! Watching her go through this journey has been eye opening and has showed me what a mother is truly capable of.
When she feels like her world is falling apart she still picks up the pieces and continues to live and love!!
God chose Jess and Dan to be sage’s parents. And sage will be forever loved and remembered 🕊️
