When I lived in New York, I worked at a firm that was designing Anna Wintour's office at Vogue Magazine.

I was charged one day with hanging art next to her desk. It was a dream moment in my young life.

The office, by the way, is almost exactly what you see in The Devil Wears Prada.

No one really likes to put it like this, but it's the truth: As an interior designer I serve the rich and powerful. I serve folks who are used to being the smartest people in the rooms they inhabit. That is the job.

They have more money and more power than I will ever have.

And yet, in the lane that I occupy, I am the expert. Balancing this role (expert and servant) can be tricky. I am always aware that there are other other great designers out there. There are other options for these powerful and discerning people I serve.

My own confidence comes from my ability to hold both these truths at once: that I am valuable and that I am replaceable.

Like Anne Hathaway, I am just another Emily...

I've always cared a lot about period-specific landscaping.

If a house was built in the 20's, what sort of vegetation was being used at the time?

We work so hard to add character and period-accurate charm to interiors, so why not to the exteriors too?

The second image is of the outbuilding at our old studio. Even though it's ramshackle, it looks beautiful in full bloom.

Native plants encouraged, of course!
I'm the youngest of nine children, which means there's a pretty big age gap between me and my oldest siblings.

At 55, I've watched many of them step into a new phase of life, and it's made one thing very clear: I'll be there too. Likely sooner than I'd prefer to admit. I'm not that young girl in the circus shirt anymore.

What's made that reality easier to face? Preparation.

Prepping for changes that I'll need to make to my lifestyle, my home, and my health.

That's exactly why we created our newest initiative - to help people make thoughtful decisions now, so they can maintain autonomy later. Before life starts making those decisions for them.

And I think little me would be proud of the way I've helped my siblings and others like them enter this next chapter with style and purpose.

During 2025’s Deco Off in Paris, a few of us were invited to tour the home of Christiana Agnelli, which was designed by Renzo Mongiardino.

Unsurprisingly, the decorating was impeccable, and there was one sofa in particular that wowed all of us designers with its rounded edges and beautiful Turkish style upholstery.

We joked that it would be a race to see who replicated it first.

Well, we did it!

This little wedge sofa was a feat of creative detailing and craftsmanship.

In our industry, there’s always talk of who had what idea first. I think we’ll be seeing a lot of designers trying to replicate Mongiardino, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We all inspire one another afterall!

Inspiration is everywhere, and what matters is telling the history of where that inspiration was found.
I'm bringing three of my team members back to the Cape in May!

Something about the place always makes me feel nostalgic.

Jaws, the movie Splash with Darrell Hannah. And the vintage shopping to boot!

I'm already counting down the days.

Big congratulations are in order for our incredible team member!

She took home the 2026 Austin Home & Design Award for Textiles and she is headed to High Point at the end of the month to showcase her wallpaper and fabric line!

At Amity Worrel & Co. we're lucky to be surrounded by innovators and Andrée's sense of color and proportion are simply unmatched.

One of our favorite collaborations? A custom pattern for our Cape Cod project with beautifully detailed hand stitching by of the Osterville town logo.

It's that level of customization, woven right into the design, that sets her work apart and defines what we are all about.

We can't wait to see what Andrée does next!

This layered, personalized powder room reflects more than just your lovely face…it reflects our client's one-of-a-kind personality.

And we're already in the design process on her next project - a writing cottage with gothic revival bones (on a perfectly scaled, slightly rebellious footprint).

Think spiderweb ceilings, witches stairs (to keep the witches in of course), and custom stained glass moments throughout.

Poet meets punk rock soul.

Our clients are wildly inspiring.

Not to brag…but if the shoe fits.

Thelonious Monk once said, “talking about music is like dancing about architecture.”

So of course we did both!

The lacquer built-ins were the first bold note and like any good composition, this room needed tension and release.

Enter the ceiling – a perfectly timed chord.

I don’t know about you, but I can hear this room just by looking at it.

We're so excited to announce that we've teamed up with for our new "Age in Place in Style" initiative.

Here at AWCo. our motto has always been "design for better living" and this initiative to help older adults age with dignity and style in their own homes felt natural for us.

Royce and I are working together to create custom solutions for folks who want to renovate thoughtfully for the years ahead.

We're so excited to share our latest project!

We received a brief from this client to transform the husbands's office into something that felt like his favorite place in the world - his ranch.

It was such a success and felt so personal to him that his wife said, "now wait a minute... my turn" and asked us to transform the main house!

What you see in this finished home is the true and full embodiment of our client and their family. We couldn't be more thrilled.
