“Hi everyone! I’m Sarah, a current senior and proud member of APhi MC ’22:)
When I reflect on the impact Alpha Phi has had on me throughout my college experience, I keep coming back to the idea of how these girls have shaped me across my four years. College is a wildly uncertain, insanely fun, and in all ways pivotal experience—one that you enter in to without knowing how it may change you. Coming out on the other side now, I feel so incredibly lucky to have met women in this chapter that have allowed me to leave UCLA a more mature, confident, and loving version of myself! Whether it’s the best friends I made Week 0 of freshman year, my Littles that have truly become family, or all the small moments in between (like dropping everything to listen to Taylor Swift’s new album in the APhi basement)—I know I’ll hold these friendships and memories with me forever.
While UCLA has been the time of my life, I couldn’t be more excited for what’s next! In the fall, I’ll be pursuing my PhD at Boston University. This path was never my original plan going into college, but it’s extremely important to surround yourself with people who inspire you to be the overly ambitious and open-minded, just as I have with these girls. Thank you Alpha Phi for everything!
All my love,
Sarah Taylor🤍”
“I will forever & always be so incredibly grateful to Alpha Phi for so, so many things, and one that sticks out the most is that it led me to my best friend, Syd Thatch. Everyone who knows Syd loves her - she is all the best things wrapped in one:) We met on bid day Freshman year & the rest is history - whether it be traveling the world, living as roommates in the house, or simply studying together, Syd is my partner in crime 💕 Post graduation, I’ll be working in San Francisco for a consulting firm, and while I’ll miss Syd as she holds down the fort here in LA, I know for certain we’ll be friends forever ♾️ ” - Casey
“I’ve had the best experience being part of aphi the last 4 years & have met some of my best friends, but most importantly found my favorite person! Casey is the best friend I could ever ask for & I couldn’t imagine my time at ucla without her! I’m so grateful we met on bid day freshman year & from that moment on we’ve been inseparable 🤍🤍 I’m both so sad we are moving away from each other next month but so excited for this new chapter for both of us. I know she will thrive in SF but will miss her so so much! Starting in August I will be doing portfolio management & trading in LA! Super thankful for alpha phi for so many great memories & allowing me to meet my best friend! 🫶” - Syd
Denim Day is a campaign started by Peace over Violence in 1999 to support survivors and remind us to expose harmful behaviors and attitudes surrounding sexual violence. The campaign was sparked by an Italian Supreme Court ruling that overturned a rape conviction, arguing that because the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped remove them, thereby implying consent. The next day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim.
As a chapter, we proudly recognize Denim Day and are committed to raising awareness to create a culture of consent, respect, and support here at Alpha Phi. We pride ourselves on our Sexual Assault Prevention educational systems in place within our organization and across the Panhellenic and IFC rows, led by our dedicated directors, Ava Gagne and Izzy Elizondo. We encourage you today to wear denim as a visible reminder that clothing is never consent and that survivors deserve to be believed, supported, and empowered. Let what you wear spark conversations, challenge harmful narratives, and reaffirm our shared commitment to building a community rooted in respect and accountability💙👖 #denimday
NEW MEMBER SPOTLIGHT⭐️ ⭐️ a junior transfer from Orange County, CA
“Transferring to UCLA, I was excited for all the new opportunities, but I also wanted to find a place like home where I could grow new forever friendships that would ground me as I settled into UCLA.
When I stepped foot inside Alpha Phi, I knew I had found something special. Every girl I met greeted me with effortless warmth, the kind that makes you feel valued and understood. I was embraced by women who share the same values of sisterhood, drive, and kindness that I do. I felt certain that Alpha Phi was the place I wanted to call home.
I’ve found a group of girls I’m proud to call my sisters which has been the highlight of my UCLA experience. I’m endlessly grateful to have found that in Alpha Phi.“
