11 years, since I was 16, not visiting my beautiful hometown: Vladivostok, located in the Far East of Russia. The biggest and politically most important city on the Asian side of Russia 🇷🇺
People have been judging me from seeing my stories about this, asking how can a person go 11 years without seeing their family while traveling everywhere else.
I know I don’t have to explain myself, but now I really feel like sharing my story 🫂
My parents separated when I was very young, and my mother had a very hard time. Her family lived in St.Petersburg which is 8 hours flight away. We moved there when I was 12. My dad stayed in Vladivostok with his new family.
I visited my dad when I was 16: my sister was 10 and my little brother was just born. I managed keeping contact with my sister throughout all these years and I even realized that I’ve become her biggest inspiration 🥹 She studies Spanish in the University (philology) land even has a big Mexican flag in her apartment hehe 😍
I could’ve visited earlier. Years earlier. But I was scared to be disappointed 💔 I was scared to see that no one really cares, that my dad won’t show me his love and it’s break my heart. I got a content creator trip invite to China, where I realized: my city is just 2,5 hour flight away. I called my sister and made a spontaneous decision to come. Thats how it goes: when it’s too planned, you overthink and decide better not. But when it’s spontaneous it’s way easier.
And when I saw them I was shocked of how wrong I was. My dad waited for me to wake up every single day with the breakfast ready. 24/7 together, giving me so much love and showing how much all of them care 🫂 This trip has healed a big part of me. Last photo is my sister waving at my airplane leaving Russia 💔
The way my father, sister and little brother cried when I left… 🥹 And I didn’t cry because I knew: now I’ll be coming every year. I feel like I’ve just found something so beautiful and so important, something I didn’t know I had. Life is beautiful 🥹❤️
