I've never dived so deep into research on 80 year old textiles. Where to find them. How they look like, and obviously how to replicate them.
Since i usually focus on how to care for clothes and how to mend them, it was a fun thought process on how textiles have not been taken care of.
How do I make Clothes look worn, when no one has ever imprinted their body into the textile?
How does a moth larvae bite through wool? Is this Alge growing in there? Did the person leave us while wearing this? How do clothes look like in the middle of war?

And i am glad I did it. Maybe it was meant as a new departure from fashion. Maybe its return to it?
Whether industrial fashion, fashion shows or fashion academia, I still feel like there is a stagnation in holding on to outdated standards, applying the same ideas of marketing to all fields over and over again instead of rethinking our values and how we want a broader audience to engage with textiles and understand the labour that goes into creating garments.
And while the field of academic fashion still won't recognise tailors, seamstresses and artisans who do not write as practitioners it is exactly all those beautiful human beings, creating in the niches of fashion, who are actively shaping new little worlds on their own and i am happy to know so many of them and call them my friends.
Starting my workshops as a site for gathering with actual practitioners has been the most soul soothing experience in the past two years and i am looking forward to continue and connect with more little crafters.

I didnt use the best stuffing for it as it deforms the head and its squishy, which doesnt really feel head-like. Any suggestions on a better & firm filling for a dressform?
