I remember when I first came to Hawaii in 2012.
After that trip, I went back home. It was winter. I stood by the window of my Soviet style apartment, gray sky outside, and at the same time I was looking at my Hawaii photos on my computer. I couldn’t believe this was the same reality.. that people could live like that while I was staring at grey concrete and grey clouds.
Around that time I bought a GoPro Hero 2 and was super excited to make a timelapse from my window. When I finally edited it, it was just gray clouds moving past ugly Soviet era buildings. The shot felt lifeless.
That’s when a dream became very clear:
I wanted to spend my winters in Hawaii. To film beautiful surroundings. To feel alive.
Now, for the past ~10 years, every winter morning I wake up here and feel that this is my real “wealth” The number of days I’ve spent in Hawaii matters to me the most in life i guess rn..
To feel alive.
To be part of nature.
Parrots singing.
Warm air.
Happy people.
I truly believe everyone deserves this kind of life.
Winter is fun for me for a few weeks…
But six months a year?
Yeah.. I don’t even want to think about that.
Respect for everyone who live at north but just a reminder if you feel the same way life is everywhere not only where you born..
