Sadly 18 months ago, Alan Dad John passed at the age of 94 and on 19th of November 2025 Alan said his last goodbye to his wonderful mother Moira, aged 93 years.
Both his parents had a massive impact on Alan’s success in life. Moira was a huge support, a rock throughout his life and without her there might not have been an Alan Edwards.

I am so grateful for the support and unconditional love my mum gave to me and our extended families throughout her life. In my childhood my mum believed in me when so many people didn’t. Mum give me encouragement, direction, self confidence. It couldn’t have been easy for her from my strong dyslexia and hyperactive ADHD from what they label it as now. My mum nurtured that from a negative to a positive in her own special way.
She was undoubtedly the most selfless person i have ever known. A true role model and my hero!
Mum unconsciously instilled the work ethic i have and definitely a catalyst in many ways to the success i have in life. She helped me get my job as an apprentice hairdresser at Irvine Rusks in 1976 which paid off for both of us and i had the great pleasure of doing mum’s hair for the next 49 years ♥️
When i wanted to set up my own Business, my Mum suggested on a shopping trip together to the newly opened Briggait centre in Glasgow. “This would be a great place for a Salon Alan”
and the rest is History 🙏
Also helping to finance the set up of the Salon
and it didn’t stop there. Mum was the gift that never stopped giving right up to the day she passed. Probably like most of us i didn’t really fully appreciate what my Parents had done for me until i was a bit older but especially when we had our children of our own. Now it’s very sad they have both passed but what is very heart warming is that my parents endearing qualities live on in their grandchildren and their great grandchildren.
