The Rythmia way is challenging in the best way possible. From dusk till dawn I had my head in a bucket throwing up everything I had worked so hard to hold inside for my entire life— trauma, fears, anxieties. It’s a love hate moment with the buckets🥲
I remember after my 2nd ceremony, Pelayo, a fellow Puerto Rican (living in Miami) came up to me at breakfast and gave me a huge hug. He said “ you look happy today. Your eyes are brighter.” Naturally, I cried the second I heard that and he looked at me and said “ Alanah you don’t have to be so tough all the time”. Who knew that was going to be a common theme of messages hitting me during my journey there.
My sister Aubrey had my same birthmark on her belly button and ALSO has a child named Rio. My Pocanos mami shared a similar story and was my trip buddy from the moment we landed. My NJ bro made me belly laugh daily. My roomie gave me hugs always knowing when i needed them most. My larger than life made me laugh until i cried. The list goes on!!
