These are the Quechua alpaca herders “Alpaqueros” who kindly looked after me during my recent alpaca photography trip. They welcomed me into their homes, shared their meals, and let me stay with them while observing and helping with their daily herding life.

キャンプから徒歩30分、標高5000mの草原で、インカの大祭「アリンカパック・ライミ」がありました。地元マクサニ市役所から歓迎いただき、お祭りでは雛壇に席を用意していただいたひ、市長から思い出にとメダルも授与いただきました。
A 30-minute walk from our camp, at an altitude of 5,000 meters on the grasslands, the great Inca festival of “Allincapac Raymi” was held. We received a warm welcome from the local Macusani municipal government, who kindly prepared seats for us on the ceremonial platform. The mayor also presented me with a commemorative medal.

This is the new photobook by photographer Akira Matsui, documenting alpacas and the lives of people on the Andean highlands of South America.
Photographed at altitudes of over 4,000 meters in Bolivia and Peru, the book brings together the expressive faces of alpacas, the ancient relationship between people and these animals, and the beautiful landscapes of the Andes.
The book was well received at the venue of the photo exhibition Alpaca: Living with the People of the Andes, where many visitors purchased copies during the exhibition. It is now available for online purchase.
With an editorial structure different from the exhibition itself, this photobook offers a broader view of the world in which alpacas live.
