魂は49日かけて、
大切な人たちに「ありがとう」を伝えながら
天国へ旅立つと聞きました。
迎えた元日。
眠っているジルをそっと起こして、
目の前にわんこのおせちを並べました。
「どれから食べる？」
「ローストビーフにする？」
そう声をかけながら——
もう固形物を受け付けなくなっていたジル。
当然、何も食べられませんでした。
それでも、
“お正月を一緒に迎えたい”
そんな私の願いを、ジルは叶えてくれました。
最後の最後まで、本当にカッコいい犬でした。
ジル、
私に看取らせてくれてありがとう。

待ちに待ったクリスマス🎄

小さなケーキをひとつずつ用意しました。
「ジル、美味しいね…」
ジルは寝たまま、
それでもちゃんとケーキを食べてくれました。
クリスマスが終われば、
次は大晦日、そしてお正月🎍
大晦日はお蕎麦を食べて、
一緒にカウントダウンしようね。
お正月は犬用のおせちも頼んであるよ。
新しい年を、みんなで迎えようね。
余命三日だったのに、
一週間、頑張ってくれた。
また一週間…。
そしてクリスマスまで、
お正月まで…。
どんどん、
欲張りになっていく私。
どうしたって抗えない、
命の終わり。
頭ではわかっているのに…
余命は三日から一週間。
そう告げられたジルでしたが、
驚くほどの回復を見せてくれました。
私の手作りごはんをミキサーにかけて
ドロドロにしたものを、パクパク食べてくれて。
そして、大好きなフランスパンを
「食べたい」その一心で、立ち上がりました。
退院から一週間後、病院へ行き、
ついに点滴も外れました。
お天気のいい日は、カートに乗ってお散歩へ。
途中でカートから降りて、
自分でおしっこも💩もできました。
すごい！すごいよ、ジル。
私は何度もそう声をかけながら、
「絶対、一緒にクリスマスを迎えようね」
そうジルに伝えました。
翌日、2025年12月6日。
ジルは点滴をつけたまま退院しました。
先生から告げられた余命は、
「三日。長くて一週間」。
今年も、ロッちゃんと一緒に
犬用のクリスマスケーキを食べるはずだったのに。
当たり前のように、
今年もクリスマスを迎えられると思っていました。
でも現実は、
「あと三日しかない」。
ジルと一緒に過ごせる時間は、
もう限られていました。
退院してからも、
ジルは何度も病院に通いました。
点滴をしても、
貧血はなかなか改善せず…。
万が一に備えて、
ジルに輸血が必要になった時のために
ロッちゃんの血液が適合するかどうかの検査もしました。
先生からは
「おそらく肝臓からの出血でしょう」と。
このまま改善しなければ、
一か八かで手術をするしかない。
ただ、老犬。
手術中に亡くなる可能性、
麻酔から醒めない可能性もあると説明を受けました。
2025.12.5
手術の日。
結果は、肝臓がんでした。
肝臓に大きな腫瘍ができていて、
摘出はできず、すでに転移も…。
そのまま、お腹を閉じることになりました。
それでも——
麻酔から醒めたジルを見て、
「生きてる」
それだけで胸がいっぱいになりました。

検査結果は良好✨

血液検査もエコーも異常なしと言われ、
安心していました。
朝、いつものようにりんごをあげると
ポロッと口から落とした…
「あれ？」
口が開かないみたい。
明らかに様子がおかしくて、すぐに病院へ。
診断は、極度の貧血。
そのまま入院になりました🏥
原因は分からないまま
、退院。
あの日まで、
何も異常がないと言われていたのに。
今でも信じられない気持ちです。
本当にありがとうございます。
ひとつひとつ大切に読ませていただき、
感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。
でも正直なところ、
まだジルが亡くなったことを受け入れられずにいます。
ロッちゃんとお散歩に行きます。
仕事にも行きます。
いつも通りの毎日を過ごしているようで、
心の中は空っぽです。
寂しくて、苦しくて、しんどくて。
ふとした瞬間に涙が溢れます。
それでも、皆さまからの優しい言葉に何度も救われています。
こんなにもジルを想っていただけたこと、
本当にありがとうございます。
