This is an image of the European red squirrel šæļø in mid air that I shot in a bird hide during my trip to Ireland. There were a few of them who were active near the hide where birds were coming for seeds, and these guys were stealing the acorns away. These guys are incredibly agile and resourceful. After stealing the acorns they would either eat them or run off nearby to store them for later. I was so reminded of scrat from ice age when I saw this behavior. I also noticed that these guys were jumping at instances so waited and was lucky to capture this leap. Let me know if you liked my shot.

On the recent trip to Ireland, had the opportunity to make small hikes within forests. Also got the opportunity to see some beautiful birds from the European continent. Hereās one of my favorite little forest bird, the the European Robin. Hope you will like this image.

Photography has a funny way of rewarding persistence.
The day I arrived on the island, the weather gods decided to throw me a curveball. Instead of the soft, moody light I had hoped for, they served up blazing sunshine, cloudless skies, and plenty of atmospheric hazeāconditions that are notoriously difficult for photographing puffins. Their beautiful black-and-white plumage can quickly become a challenge under harsh midday light, with deep shadows and bright highlights fighting for attention.
For a while, it felt like the light had won.
Then I noticed the sea. Millions of reflections dancing across the water, turning the Atlantic into a canvas of light. After some exploring, I found a puffin willing to play along and composed it against the sparkling backdrop.
Sometimes the best images arenāt made despite the conditions, but because of them.
This is one of those images. Let me know if you liked this composition.

A puffin flying head-on from the Atlantic, the black rocky cliffs of the Saltees forming a perfect backdrop behind it. For the briefest moment, the Birds Eyeās met mine through the viewfinder and this is when this shot was captured. Then, as suddenly as it appeared, the bird turned away and headed back towards the sea. Let me know if you liked this freeze.

After many years of postponement, a last-minute visa, a long flight, a small road trip and a ferry ride across the Irish Sea, finally brought me to the spectacular Saltee Islands in the company of a dear friend over the Eid holidays.
I finally had the wonderful opportunity to see and photograph the sea parrot aka Atlantic Puffin in the wild! In this photograph, the bird was captured with its colourful beak packed with shimmering sand eels, amongst a carpet of wild white Sea Campion flowers alongside the cliffs of the island which forms its natural nesting grounds and habitat.

Another phenomenal lifer for me during the Ecuador trip was the Green Fronted Lance-Bill. This bird species has the unique pointed bill and hence the name. Now capturing this bird was no easy feat. The bird was seen perched near a small waterfall within a cavity opened up on the mountain slope. Most angles had this bird behind waterfall that rendered it against an unpleasant white background. The mountain slope was covered with shrubs and plants as well making it harder to get my kind of clean shot. All the initial shots had uneven leaves as background which was not complementing the birds perch. Then over careful evaluation of all possible angles, it came to me that if I needed to get a good shot, I literally had to lie down on the road and angle my camera through a small opening between branches and leaves of a plant. To my amazement, the shot had the beautiful background depth that I wanted to separate the bird with a clean background. I was very pleased with the shot. Sometimes the perfect shot stays elusive till you find it.

The highlight endemic bird of my Ecuador trip was this beauty - the Ecuadorian Hillstar. Seen in the cold high altitude humid ecosystem in the Andes Mountains between m above sea level, this bird is seen taking nectar from these orange flowers of the Chuquiraga shrubs. Unlike other hummingbirds, these guys donāt feed hovering rather they forage while clinging and hanging on these flowers. It was an amazing breathless (lol, high altitude included) experience to patiently capture this beauty. From most angles the bird looks normal however the moment they turn to light, their purple indigo feathers just start reflecting and this bird transforms to an unearthly beauty as seen in this image. Perhaps the hardest bird to capture on my recent trip to Ecuador, the Crimson Topaz didnāt disappoint. Challenging light, fleeting moment and a small window to shoot from a canopy platform all contributed to a tough but otherwise beautiful wildlife experience witnessing perhaps one of the most beautiful hummingbirds of South America. This is a moment when the bird fluttered its wing for a quick moment revealing its colors. Let me know if you liked this shot.

Final species from the US owl series is the Great Horned Owl who is staying watch over three chicks and mommy owl in a nest nearby. It was a cold and wet evening when this image was shot handheld and this contributes the white skies and grayish tones in the frame. I really liked the composition of the branches and the owls perch within in. Let me know if you liked this shot.

We drove miles to this guy through an open road with fields on both sides to arrive at a small town. In the center of the town, inside a snow clad park we searched all evening checking tree cavities and then suddenly heard this guy high up in the tree in a small cavity where they are typically found in. As the background was not very interesting and possibly distracting, I frame this guy against the backdrop of the branches of a tree behind. Let me know if you liked this composition.
