Old pine tree at my favourite old temple in Yamaguchi.

The other workshop I did “light in the forest” is also from this temple 💕 The priest passed away a few years ago then the storm damaged this temple mountain🥲
But it is still filled with beautiful pure energy here.

This is the recorded video from my demonstration during the online workshop “Pine tree”.

I introduced the basics first then explained how to paint step by step, so that even for beginners can follow and will be able to create artworks of pine tree. 💕

If you would love to learn how to paint the pine tree by recorded video, contact me to ➡️

Basics at the Sumie online course

Exercise for Chokuhistu brush movement and ink control, trying to express the contrast dark and light…
Very simple, but very important!

Always so nice to go back to the basics and paint “orchid”.
I can discover something new and learn more when I go back to the basics…. It is such a precious moment…

Beginner’s mind in my endless journey.

I enjoy teaching 💕and I still have lots to learn myself…

Certificate form and a seal

I was so happy that I came this far…creating certificates for my students.

When I was younger, after I qualified as a teacher, my master recommended that I take a course specializing in certificate writing for several years, and I used to receive commissions from a printing company while I was working for Dream House, so I used to work after I came home from teaching, putting my daughter in bed, then focusing my mind so deeply to write many certificates at the middle of night.

I had to learn how to switch on and focus my mind, no matter how much I was exhausted or how deeply I was feeling sad and lost at that time,… I couldn’t waste my time to write the certificate from the beginning over again, as I had so many… my time was limited… So it became a great training for me.
Then I moved to the UK..

I was very emotional when I was creating this certificate, looking back the tough time I went through, and also thinking of my students who trusted me and followed me till this far…

I poured my deep love and care into this, and I feel so proud of giving this certificate to my students. I feel so grateful to my master, who guided me and taught me. I feel so blessed.

This is my way of returning.

signboard “Kokuji Art”

Dream House is a place that connects people’s hearts…

Every time I carved the wooden board, I had a beautiful vision of everyone’s big smiles in their faces visiting here.
It was an important part of my journey to create this signboard.

I would like my students to enjoy every single moment for connecting their hearts to themselves deep within, nature, and other people through the ancient art forms: calligraphy and Sumi painting.

I will try my best to keep learning, keep improving to be able to share my knowledge, skills, spaces, time and love to those who open this door of Dream House …

Residential course 1 in spring 2026

During the course, we created Orchid flowers going through the basics.
These are my demonstration pieces.
We have wild orchid flowers in Dream House garden and we could see the opened flower petals for the perfect timing. 🌱

I love the paper called “taizan” so much! It shows ink effect beautifully. (First artwork) but very weak for wetting Mizu bokashi. So for the snow effect, I used Tou paper. Students learn not only brush techniques but also about materials, history, mindset and Japanese culture during this course.

It was such a great time for 8 day residential course. 🩷

My endless journey…

There is still a long way to go on this endless journey. The path led by a white light is always full of bumps and challenges, but I continue to keep walking, as I see that each step is such a precious and irreplaceable. And… I enjoy my journey.
