This DIY sconce is battery-operated, which I love.
But the curing time…
Four days. Four.
Also, I used aluminum foil to build the stem structure so it would hold its shape while curing. But naturally, that part didn’t make the reel. My phone died.
Sorry about that.
If you want the list of materials I used, comment “Link” and I’ll send it over.

Context: They built a two-storey house across the street and I realized one evening that our bathroom window had an audience. 🙈
You can’t really see it on video, but from the shower I could see straight into their windows.
My temporary fix was a very chic combo of towels + our glass cabinet door.
This is now filed under: "should’ve done this sooner."
This space grew in so many ways that I never would’ve imagined. Many of you showed up in different ways, by coming back quietly, by engaging, by sharing. Some of you (you know who you are) sent kindness during the hardest days, and sometimes, even friction played a role in helping this place grow. I’m grateful for this community and for how it evolved this year.
I don’t believe much in big resolutions but I do believe in the impact that small, repeated gestures can have.
So in 2026, I’ll keep paying attention, stay curious, and keep showing up here with more perspective and new projects that I hope will inspire you.
I’m really glad you’re here. ❤️
This year we’re leaning fully into the slow holiday vibes with this little selection Michel put together for our diners and gatherings.
I hope one of these finds its way into your evening
Have a lovely time with you loved ones 🎄❤️
But the older I get, the more I realize what actually lingers isn’t how a house looked. It’s how made people feel inside it.
I don’t want guests perched on the edge of my couch, worried about messing something up.
These days, I aim for ease over polish and presence over performance.
So if this sounds like you too, consider this your permission to relax your shoulders a little.
A home that’s lived in often makes people feel far more welcome than one that’s looking like a five stars hotel lobby. Just saying…
It’s not necessarily about what’s “new”. Some of these observations are more about how homes are starting to feel.
Curious if you’ve been noticing the same things and more.
Now that deserves a celebration with a few ideas inspired by Yule traditions (and adapted very loosely) that you can do at home tonight:
✸ Light a candle at dusk and sit with it for a minute.
✸ Write down one thing you’re ready to leave behind from this year and burn (safely) or recycle the paper.
✸ Open a window or door briefly at sunset to feel the season shift.
✸ Make a cozy drink and actually slow down while drinking it.
✸ Step outside or look up at the sky. Longest night -> more darkness -> sometimes more stars.
✸ Host a candlelit dinner. I don’t know exactly how traditional this one is, but it always works.
Take what resonates, leave the rest.
Day 20 of the Home Advent. Only 4 days left!
But hey, the afters look pretty good, right? 👀
Now, tell me, what’s the most questionable DIY decision you’ve ever made?
Eclectic interior design, vintage home, 70s aesthetic, colorful MCM home, midcentury, wallpaper, color drenching

I’d go for round two without hesitation!
I might’ve embarked on this journey back in...yes, JANUARY 😱 But hold on, that timeline tells half the story!
We kept busy during those months: we safely managed asbestos, reconstructed walls, leveled subfloors… Plus, we installed our chevron flooring and built our kitchen, all by our industrious selves. Truth be told, this project can be knocked out in merely 3 to 4 weeks, even 2, depending on the surface area you’re set to cover, the number of molds on hand, and how much motivation fuels you.
I guarantee, the sense of accomplishment and pride that comes flooding once it’s done is absolutely worth every drop of sweat! ✨
