🎃 Starting off with afternoon tea in the Belmont Room at was an experience I’ll never forget. My great grandmother first visited not long after it opened, and it’s been a tradition passed down to me that I’m honored to continue.
👻 I adore but I knew I’d never get near their main shop or activities during #GhostWeek, so I popped along to the Dispensary instead. After a few hours of queuing, sheltering from the rain and making friends with and her partner (omg hi guys), I was lucky enough to snap up a few more lil ghost pals to add to my collection.
🎃 Lastly, we popped into The Golden Fleece, which is known as the most haunted pub in York, and I can certainly see why! A few very odd things happened, and I made friends with Elizabeth, or her decapitated skull anyways, and Matilda, who is a doll so haunted that she’s locked and chained up in her own glass box.
👻 I’m not sure if it’s my family connection, but there’s just something so special about York. It was utterly enchanting to experience it during Halloween. I’d highly recommend it if you ever get the chance! Now how the heck do I top that next year?? 😵
I work and live on US Central Time, so I didn’t actually arrive at the venue until just after 1pm (the idea of getting there for 9am UK time was just too much for me 😴), and boyyy was it busy by then.
I was actually pretty overwhelmed by the sheer number of people funnelling into and out of every door, the tropical heat in the halls, and had to take a moment before saying hi to some guests. The queues for Hayden were a marathon that I couldn’t complete, but I did hang out with some wonderful folks!
Billie Piper was a treasure. Michelle Gomez was hilarious. The BG3 panel was wonderful, and meeting the effortlessly charming and endlessly talented Neil Newbon was everything is hoped it would be. I helped organize his photo queue when the lovely event staff were overwhelmed, and got talking to so many of his passionate fans!
Will I be back next year? Hmmm, we’ll see. If I do, I’ll have to train a little harder so I can properly enjoy the marathon that is this mighty Scottish Comic Con (and pray for air con and readily accessible drinking water!). But I’m proud of myself for making it through the day! It’s straight back to work for me, but I’ll cherish these moments! 🙌🏴

🥀
🥀 This is my personal interpretation and opinions having now played it all the way through. If you have a way to try and play it, I 100% recommend that you do. I’d also love to hear your thoughts!
🥀 This game hit a little harder, as I’ve very recently lost a close family member AND a beloved pet. I totally understand that deep and heavy struggle with grief.
🥀 The whole reason why all of this game’s story happened was due to one family’s trauma and inability to face the painful reality of losing someone so close to them.
🥀 The thing that hit me the most is that I bet most of us would do the exact same. If there was a way to “Choose the Painting” … live in a fantasy where your lost loved one was still with you, and ignore the unimaginable pain of loss. We’d probably do it.
🥀 If Maelle gets her ending, she’s only really indulging her own unhealthy relationship with grief. She refuses to let her brother rest in peace. But the alternative, although the “right” answer, is absolutely gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking to watch and I was in bits. 💔
🥀 For me, this game is nothing short of a masterpiece. It’s an epic experience full of whimsy, love, and loss - all set in a breathtaking setting with a stunning and extensive soundtrack. I fell in love with every character and the voice acting was top notch from everyone. 10/10. No notes.
🥀 Okay. So those of you that have played it, or those that know the choice… which did you pick, or would you pick?
Getting to see again after 18 yearsss (that makes me feel very old thnx) was so much fun and they were just as hilariously chaotic as I remember. Loved every moment.
You KNOW your girl had to wear head to toe Belladrum Tartan! I’ve worn it to Czechia, to comic cons, and now, back to its ancestral home. SO many folks stopped me to ask about it and I was really honored to tell this beautiful tartan’s story.
Spent like, 90% of my time chilling out at the bothy - the vibes were 🤌👌✨ and the melon cocktail was lush!
Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the fest - it’s back to work for meee. See ya next year! 💋
A game that can get me to leave the house and actually walk MUST be a good thing. It was Day One of Pokemon Go Global GoFest today - I even got some shinies!
I don’t have any Pokemon merch, so I looked out this perf Ditto-purple lil sweater and matched my nails 💅
Did you catch any shiny Pokemon today?

So when I got the opportunity to elf up for - you know ya girl had to dust off the ol’ ears for an appearance.
I was actually pretty nervous to start attending cons again. I had some reallll unfortunate experiences with creepers/stalkers that shook me to my core and made me wonder if I was ever safe or brave enough to attend. It seems like any time you get like a hint of a following, the dangerous folks start seeping out the woodwork. But I’m older now. I feel stronger and have a real sense of duty to come back and one: show that these losers will not win or extinguish the enjoyment of my hobbies and two: to protect, and call out anything close to what I experienced when I see it. I spoke to a lot of folks in queues and walking around and it breaks my heart to know how many of us have similar stories to share.
Con organisers are getting much better at protecting their attendees, especially with schemes like “Ask for Angela.” And I’ve got to hand it to the Fan Frontier team - I really did feel very safe walking around. Sure, there were creepers, but there were also lots of staff and everywhere I was I could spot someone who could help nearby.
So you, you who’s reading this, thinking that you’re too afraid to get back to the con circuit. I see you. Don’t let anyone dull your passion for what you love. Believe in yourself and your self worth. You deserve to go to events and walk around without feeling like you’re at risk. Just remember, you’ve got this Dalish elf cheering you on… with an arrow trained at that creeper’s back… y’know… just in case. (the arrows might be imaginary but the sentiment is not) 🧝🏻♀️🏹💅
