Ephesus Hotel, steeped in memories of past eras, is one of the hotels where we feel the most at peace. Every year when we stay, we can’t help saying β€œWhat a beautiful place we’re in!” when we wake up to the view and the sounds in the morning.

We think some people truly have what’s called a β€œgreen finger,” and Mr. Mustafa is definitely one of them. The hotel’s garden and vegetable patchβ€”along with the front, back, and surroundingsβ€”are filled with flowers and trees bursting with incredible vitality. You can tell they’ve been grown with love.

Located in KirazlΔ± Village (AydΔ±n), has long been a place whispered about from person to person thanks to its architecture, garden, vegetable patch, authentic rooms, and Mr. Mustafa’s sincere hospitality.

Why go? Maybe for the view of the hills that turn green after October; maybe to visit Turkey’s first railway (Δ°zmir–AydΔ±n) and the Railway Museum in Γ‡amlΔ±k, just 10 minutes from the hotel; maybe to enjoy a romantic getaway with a loved one in a room with a fireplace; maybe to get a little distance from the soul-wearying noise of fast-paced city life; or maybe to slowly and leisurely explore the Ancient City of Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary, the Ephesus Museum, and the Δ°sa Bey Mosque. After all, it’s only 1 hour from Δ°zmir Adnan Menderes Airport.
For reservations, you can contact Mr. Mustafa directly:.

Efes SelΓ§uk, at other times, is one of the Aegean’s most special towns thanks to its history. Şirince is still β€œcharming.” Among our classic restaurant recommendations in the area is Antepli Ramazan Usta’s Kebab House. Whether with ayran or any drink you like, their kebabs are delicious. They also serve a wonderful eggplant dish for those who eat plant-based. Tables spill out onto the streetβ€”so if you’re looking for atmosphere, this is the place for you.

Pizza Kallinios, which opened this year, is near the Δ°sa Bey Mosque. Both its cafΓ© and pizzasβ€”with high-quality ingredients and the flavor of a stone ovenβ€”as well as its location, make you truly feel that you’re in a historic city. Don’t miss it!

Places to Visit Β· Accommodation Β· Food & Drink in Corfu Island in Greece | What Is December Like?

Going to Corfu in winter… Yes, it’s a bit bold, but you know what? The island is calm, misty, slightly melancholic in winterβ€”straight out of a movie scene. I stayed for three days, but let me tell you this: I could pack my suitcase again right nowβ€¦β˜ΊοΈ

πŸŽ’ What to Do in Corfu in 3 Days?

Day 1 – Old Town exploration
Get lost in the cobblestone streets, lean against the pastel buildings and sip your coffee, then climb up to the Old Fortress: the view is unbelievable!

Day 2 – Palaiokastritsa & Monastery
You won’t be swimming, but those misty coves in winter… Oh! Hiking, visiting the monastery, photo breaks: a soul-soothing route.

Day 3 – Achilleion Palace
The gardens and statues of the palace facing the deep blue sea… The kind that makes you say: β€œI could walk down these marble stairs every day.”

🍽️ Food & Drink Recommendations (Best for Winter)

β˜”οΈβ˜•οΈπŸ³ Breakfast / Coffee:
β€’ Mikro CafΓ©: A tiny, cute coffee shop in the old town.
β€’ Rosy’s Bakery: Fresh croissant + hot chocolate = happiness.☺️

For Lunch:
β€’ Pane e Souvlaki: I can say it’s the best gyros & souvlaki. Also budget-friendly.
β€’ Salto Wine Bar – Bistro: Great for a light lunch, stylish, with local flavors.

Dinner / Taverna
β€’ Rex Restaurant: You can find classic Corfu flavors in the old town.
β€’ To Dimarchio: Relaxed, local, and delicious Mediterranean cuisine awaits.

Bars & Nightlife
β€’ Imabari Seaside Bar: Calmer in winter but the view is still legendary.
β€’ Kourdisto Portokali: They host live music nights; the atmosphere is warm and friendly.

🏨 3 Boutique Hotel Suggestions
β€’ Siora Vittoria Boutique Hotel: A historic stone building in Old Town.
β€’ Locandiera Boutique Hotel: Central, warm & friendly.
β€’ Bella Venezia Hotel: Stylish, central location, and the breakfast is legendary.

For details and current prices, be sure to check.

🌧️ What Is Corfu Like in December?
Cool, mystical, peaceful.
Quiet streets, calm cafΓ©s, and the monasteries and palaces give off the perfect β€œwinter spirit.” No swimming season, but the views + island scent + stone streets = magical enough.

🏝️ Greece by Island Groups: So, Which Region Is for You? πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·
Sometimes I look at a map β€” hundreds of tiny dots in a sea of blue…
Each one whispers, β€œcome.”
But which one should I choose? Well, that depends a bit on the mood. 😌

✨ Cyclades:
Whitewashed houses, blue doors, plenty of wind, and endless sunsets…
Santorini, Paros, #Mykonos…
If you’re after β€œa bit of romance, a bit of wine, and plenty of Instagram material,” this one’s for you. πŸ·πŸ’™

🌿 Ionian Islands:
Along the Ionian Sea lies an emerald-green world.
#Corfu, Kefalonia, Zakynthos…
The sea is calmer here, the nature more embracing.
Perfect for the β€œbeach towel + book + long siesta” lifestyle.

🏺 Dodecanese:
#Rhodes, Symi, Kos…
Here, history and sea intertwine.
You might find yourself wandering through a medieval castle, then swimming in a turquoise bay ten minutes later.
Ideal for those who want a β€œculture-meets-relaxation” escape.

β›΅ Saronic Islands:
Famous for their closeness to Athens: Hydra, Poros, #Spetses.
Legendary for weekend getaways!
Sometimes escaping the city is just a ferry ride away.

🌊 Sporades & North Aegean:
Lesser-known, less-traveled…
Skiathos, Skopelos, Lesvos, #Chios…
A haven for those who want a holiday far from the crowds.
A bit of peace, a bit of sea breeze, and a touch of salt in the air.

Every Greek island has its own character.
Some love to dance, some love silence.
Some are filled with music till dawn; others offer only the sound of waves.
Which one are you? πŸ’

Sometimes I’m in a β€œCyclades mood,” and the next day I wake up with β€œIonian energy.”
Maybe it’s best to be a little bit of each β€” who knows. 🌞

If you’re looking for the island that fits you best, here’s a little tip:
πŸ‘‰ Check out.
Across every island group, you’ll find small, story-filled boutique hotels β€” far from the crowds.
Maybe your perfect spot is already waiting there for you… 🩡
✨ Bolu Abant: Where Nature Whispers and Time Slows 🌿
πŸ‘‡πŸ»
Tucked deep within the pine forests of northwestern TΓΌrkiye, Bolu Abant feels like a fairytale written in green and mist. The road winds through endless trees, the air turns crisp, and then suddenly β€” the lake appears. Still. Serene. Reflecting the sky like glass.

I stayed at Abant Yeşil Masal Evleri, a cozy retreat that perfectly matches the calm rhythm of the region. Imagine waking up in a wooden cottage surrounded by pines, hearing the soft rustle of leaves and the distant call of birds. The cottages are warm and charming β€” rustic yet romantic β€” each one wrapped in nature’s quiet.

The concept is simple: disconnect to reconnect. No noise, no rush β€” just the scent of wood, the comfort of a fireplace, and long walks under fog-draped trees. Evenings mean Turkish tea by the fire, laughter echoing across the forest, and stars that feel impossibly close.

Abant isn’t about luxury; it’s about peace β€” the kind that seeps into your bones. Whether you visit in snowy winter or golden autumn, it’s a place that makes you breathe slower, think softer, and live deeper.

If your soul craves silence and your heart needs green, Abant will find you. 🌲✨

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ The True Meaning of Escape

Just a breath away from the peaceful village of Chorio in Kimolos, tucked into the tranquil coastline of Zaharias, is more than a stay β€” it’s a state of mind.
🌊 GEM: Kimolia Gi Beach House | Kimolos

Here, time slows down. Blending Cycladic simplicity with effortless elegance, Kimolia Gi Beach House stands apart β€” a place where the sound of the waves becomes your morning call, and soft sand lies only steps from your bed.

Wake to the whisper of the sea, take your first swim just meters away, enjoy breakfast kissed by the salt and sun, and fall asleep again under a sky scattered with stars.

This is what freedom feels like.
This is Kimolos in its purest form β€” barefoot, sunlit, and timelessly serene.
A summer straight from the 70s: unhurried, genuine, and beautifully simple.

πŸ— Some places stay with you forever.
I first came across this little beach house in Nimborio, Symi, back in 2019, when hardly anyone knew about it. I wrote about it then, and it has never left my mind since. Now I see it becoming viral, but to me it will always be that secret escape where I felt completely free.

A small beach house literally built on the rocks, where mornings begin with a dive into crystal waters, afternoons drift away to the sound of fishing boats, and the whole village seems to be paused somewhere in the β€˜70s.

I used to reach it by boat or on an electric bike from Symi town, and every single time it gave me the same feeling: as if I had stepped outside the world. One of those rare gems that don’t just stay in your memory, they become part of you.

β€œSometimes all you need is to dip your toes into the cool morning water and simply listen to what your heart has to say.” 🌿

Aren’t summer dreams usually built in the middle of winter, right at our desks? Those daydreams that begin with β€œIf only I were on a beach in the Aegean right now…” Well, one of the places where those dreams take shape is in Γ–lΓΌdeniz, TΓΌrkiye.
But let me be clear: this isn’t PR talk, it’s a heartfelt travel diary. If it sparks that holiday glow in your eyes, then I’ll be more than happy. ✨
β€œFew people are as wise as those who have traveled.” – Goethe 🫢🏻☺️

🏠 That First Moment at The Pearl…
As the car slid down the winding Fethiye road towards Γ–lΓΌdeniz, I felt a little flutter inside. At the end of the road, The Pearl greeted me with its unique architecture: three blocks embracing a U-shaped, grand pool. Yes, we’re talking luxury-luxury here β€” and definitely stylish.
Stepping straight into the pool from my swim-up room… for a moment I felt a little like James Bond, and a little like, β€œI truly earned this holiday.” 😎

Mornings & Coffees πŸ³β˜•

Breakfast begins with the sound of chirping birds and a soft morning breeze.

With breakfast included, staying in a swim-up room starting from 9,500 TL means a romantic getaway, especially for couples and honeymooners. Jacuzzi time? That’s reserved for the penthouse rooms upstairs. Perfect for couples who want complete privacy. But families with kids are also welcome, as the property accepts children of all ages πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

πŸ§‘πŸ»β€πŸŒΎ The β€œWhat Should We Do Today?” Place
In Γ–lΓΌdeniz, time doesn’t just pass by β€” it refuses to. Sunbathing at the beach or lazing by the pool is nice, but one day you should take a boat tour to explore the islands, and another day walk a stretch of the Lycian Way. And paragliding? Floating across the sky is beyond words, it must be lived! πŸͺ‚

If you get tired, wander through the stone houses of KayakΓΆy. It feels like listening to the present in the silence of the past… In those moments, I thought of Hermann Hesse’s words:
β€œLoneliness is a feeling; it can be felt even among crowds.” #collab
For those who are curious about the Turkiye & Greece Website...
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŒΎ Who am I?
I am a person who loves traveling, exploring and nature. For me, traveling is a movement in which I connect with both nature and myself. After my experience at Bilkent University and Γ‡Δ±rağan Palace, I moved to the U.S. While working as a manager at Starwood Hotels Group, my path crossed with a Cornell University scholarship and life dragged me towards a completely different adventure.
✏️ When I completed my tourism education in Boston (USA) in 2005 and returned to Turkey, I started to prepare a guidebook and a website for #Turkey & #Greece. I always knew and felt that ❀️ Turkey&Greece deserved special attention...
For 20 years, I have been writing about the hotels, chalets, luxury bungalows, the places I have eaten and drunk, the places I have visited, experienced and met the owners of the hotels, chalets, luxury bungalows, the places I have eaten and drunk, the places I have traveled and seen, on this path I have been following with the motto of β€œhurry slowly”. These two countries are truly the most special places in the world for me...
🌿 On my guide site | | where I try to explain small tourist attractions in detail and accurately, where I create a bridge between both tourists and touristic businesses; environmentally, nature, culture sensitive and protectionist approach is indispensable of course!
✨ In this blog, is the most detailed, up-to-date, oldest and only specially curated travel culture guide to Turkey and Greece ever written! My website reaches +6.5 million readers every year. The water flows and finds its way...
🌿Today, at the age of 48, I still love these lands that I can’t get enough of traveling and fall in love with another detail every time! Who knows what awaits you on the road... Don’t listen to anyone and get on the road as soon as possible...
Maybe we meet and chat with you in these special places I recommend, who knows 😌
Hope to meet you, hope to see you...
