I truly appreciate for allowing me to share the story of why she acquired a print of my artwork "Black Shining Prince." It's not often that we hear the stories behind why someone is inspired to acquire an artist's work, and her story was so beautiful that it only felt right to share it with y'all. Enjoy.

I’m truly honored to share some exciting news!

I’ve been invited to the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, by Koyo Kouoh.

I feel overwhelmed with gratitude to have been selected by Koyo Kouoh to participate. Although Koyo is not physically here, I believe in her spirit, practice, and the words from her curatorial conceit have been a source of light and guidance. May her words “shift us to a slower gear and tune in to the frequencies of the minor keys.”

A huge thank you also to Rory Tsipayi, Siddhartha Mitter, Rasha Salti, Marie Hélène Pereira, and Gabe Beckhurst Feijoo for their incredible support and collaboration at every turn. Yal are a dream team.

The 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, “In Minor Keys,” by Koyo Kouoh, will run from May 9 to November 22, 2026 at the Giardini and the Arsenale venues, and in various locations around Venice, Italy.

Congratulations to Adebunmi Gbadebo, invited to the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, curated by Koyo Kouoh. Titled “In Minor Keys,” the exhibition will run from May 9 to November 22, 2026 at the Giardini and the Arsenale venues, and in various locations around Venice, Italy.

“I feel overwhelmed with gratitude to have been selected by Koyo Kouoh to participate,” says Gbadebo. “ As a Nigerian American woman, I feel a lot of pride in being part of her curatorial vision. Especially since she is the first African woman to curate La Biennale Arte since its inception in 1895. Although she is not physically here, I believe her spirit, practice, and words from her curatorial conceit have been a source of light and guidance. May Koyo’s words ‘shift us to a slower gear and tune in to the frequencies of the minor keys.’”
