Gerjan Streng, research fellow at the research group Architecture and Circular Thinking at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, introduces us to the Banker, one of the ten attitudes featured in the upcoming book Architects with Attitudes, Archetypes for a Regenerative World.

‘The banker has an important role in the circular economy. It creates an incentive to design for disassembly and to collect materials for re-use.’

Launching this autumn, the book is the result of research conducted in the research group Architecture & Circular Thinking between 2019 and 2025 into the architectural potential of a new material paradigm rooted in circular thinking. In this lecture Alison Killing will talk about the links between architecture and investigative journalism and what architectural skills can bring to investigations. As an architect, how can you make the space you involuntarily rearrange, accessible to others?

Eight students from the Academy of Architecture have built a 'Community Gallery' at the Marineterrein, just a stone’s throw from the Culture Club. Inspired by the free mini libraries, the gallery consists of a number of boxes where people (neighbors, students, artists) can leave, take, or exchange a piece of art.
The students followed a course in which they explored the concept of 'space' through text and observation, and decided to leave a few traces of their research behind.

Come take a look in the coming weeks, and feel free to contribute or take something home!
