Vanaf morgen kunnen we weer naar het museum! Boek snel een tijdslot voor de tentoonstelling ‘Slavernij’ in Het Rijksmuseum! Ik was er al met een schoolklas en het is zeer de moeite waard. Aanrader is om gebruik te maken van de informatieve en prachtig samengestelde audiotour!

De zevenlandenhuizen werden in 1894 ontworpen door Tjeerd Kuipers en zijn te vinden in de Roemer Visscherstraat, vlakbij het Vondelpark in Amsterdam.
Loop er eens langs, het is de moeite waard en een leuke manier om je ommetje op te vrolijken.

Op de gevel van het voormalige universitaire scheikundelaboratorium op het Roeterseiland is nog wel een aantal gapers te zien, vervaardigd door Hildo Krop. Wie een rondje rond het gebouw loopt zal nog een aantal andere verwijzingen naar de oorspronkelijke functie van dit gebouw ontdekken, zoals het beeld van een ouderwetse microscoop, een chemische fabriek en een dubbelportret van een wetenschapper en een arbeider.
Vanaf de jaren ‘10 van de vorige eeuw werkte Hildo Krop decennialang als beeldhouwer in Amsterdam. Zijn werk is op meer dan honderd plekken in de stad te zien: op bruggen, als decoratie van gebouwen of als vrij werk. Sommige - zoals de beelden op de Lyceumbrug - kom ik bijna dagelijks tegen, andere heb ik nog nooit gezien of zijn me schandalig genoeg nog nooit echt opgevallen. Tijdens mijn ‘staycation’ (en waarschijnlijk daarna) wil ik alle aan de hand van de uitgave ‘Hildo Krop, stadsbeeldhouwer van Amsterdam’ alle beelden van Krop in mijn stad opzoeken en écht goed bekijken.
Ik kwam er overigens pas kort geleden achter dat 2020 Hildo Kropjaar is. Het is dit jaar 50 jaar geleden dat deze productieve kunstenaar overleed. Mijn aandacht werd dit jaar extra op de beelden van Krop gevestigd tijdens de talloze quarantainewandelingetjes door mijn eigen buurt.
