One awkward fall on a run and a broken wrist later, I'm sidelined and being forced to do something I rarely choose to do: slow down.
I'm used to moving, working, training, chasing goals, and planning what's next. Instead, I'm going to have to learn patience. Every day is a reminder that recovery can't be rushed and that sometimes the hardest part isn't the injury itself....it's accepting that your body sets the pace.
So, while everyone else is on their marks, getting set, and going, I'm staying put, healing, and trying to embrace the pause.
It's not a pause I chose, but it's the one I'm living right now. So, for now, it's less about pushing forward and more about healing one day at a time.

I realise these two atrocities are different in so many ways, BUT the main difference to me is how we are led to feel about them.
Ethiopia's plight was all over the news with families raising funds, kids sending pocket money, school lessons discussing it, and a song that we all bought as we wanted to help the starving Ethiopians the best we could.
Palestine's gen○cide, on the other hand, is hidden from view. The silence is deafening, we are told not to 'interfere' and that there is absolutely no systematic starving of thousands.
Thankfully, 40 years ago, the rock star Sir Bob Geldolf used his status to make real and lasting change in Ethiopia...
Now, for Palest!ne, we have new leading stars. A new form of largely unseen heroe. Those who are daily risking their lives and careers in order to help a stranger. Those who will not remain silent and I, for one, thank them all 🙏
