In no particular order, here are my favourite spots to try:
📍FAB: open Wed–Sat for fresh breads and monthly-changing sweet and savoury pastries, including their famous croissant cubes
📍Northern Rye: pastry powerhouses with sites across the North East and breads stocked in local foodie spots. Their almond croissants are elite
📍Grant’s Bakery: in the heart of Corbridge, this award-winning bakery does giant cakes, rustic loaves, pastries and everything in between
📍Adam’s Bakehouse: the queues tell you how good this bakery is. Expect daily breads, bagels, baguettes, croissants, cookies and great local coffee
📍The Sustenance Society: this micro bakery is a Whitley Bay must. Open Wed–Sat, get there early for the best pick
📍Koselig Bakeri: my fave Scandi-inspired bakery now has 3 locations! The menu changes regularly but look out for the pistachio and chocolate pain Suisse
📍PureKnead: locally renowned for their fabulous breads, cakes and pastries all served across multiple locations
📍Pink Lane Bakery: freshly baked homemade treats, almond croissants, sourdoughs and stotties, you’ll find it all at this legendary bakery
📍Baker in the Bay: a small but mighty Whitley Bay spot serving daily breads, pastries and sweet treats Tues–Sat.the.bay

Tucked away on King Edward’s Bay in Tynemouth, is a rustic beachside restaurant and is one of the best places to experience fresh, seasonal fish and seafood in the North East 😍
The menu is written on a blackboard meaning dishes change daily depending on what the fishermen catch, but expect the likes of oysters, fishcakes, crab soufflé and whole fish mains, plus some veggie/steak dishes often available 🐠🦐
When I visited, the monkfish tail wrap was on so I had to try it. Cooked to order and grilled over an open fire, the fish was unreal and came with a caper, fennel, chilli and lime salad, garlic roast potatoes, super soft wrap bread and both harissa and aioli 👏🤤 Honestly absolute perfection and really generous in portion size!
Perch at the bar overlooking the sea, or reserve a deckchair and fire pit on the beach with your toes in the sand…bliss!!
When the sun is shining, the air is salty, the carefree tunes are vibing and you can smell the flavours from the open kitchen, honestly it’s a slice of Geordie paradise 🏝️🤩
The shack does get busy so I recommend booking. Be sure to save this post so you know where to go this summer ✨

The days are lighter, evenings are longer and the next bank holiday weekend is just around the corner 🙌 here’s what I’ve been doing on repeat…
1,2&3: sipping the morning away at one of the coolest hidden coffee shops in the North East ☕️ you’ll want to book a table and don’t miss their gorgeous homeware shop
4,5&6: Tynemouth Market is always a good idea and I love discovering new favourite stalls 🤩 I spent ages deciding on a new pair of sunnies from and I’m already planning on a charm bracelet from
7&8: If there’s one place for a gorgeous al fresco, sun soaked coffee, it’s 🤎
9&10: And is it even the weekend without a pastry? We’ve got so many incredible indies across the North East and this month it was more trips to and 🥐
11&12: One of my favourite walks, from Seaton Sluice to St Mary’s Lighthouse (of course with a coffee stop at 🌸) even better when you can spot the seals 🦭
13&14: And finallyyyyy ticking off another bucket list dinner spot, massively lived up to expectations, that cauliflower was sensational, I’ll be back 👏
Same again next month? Go on then 🫶
Be sure to save for your next weekend inspo ✨

Sitting on Brentwood Avenue, neighbourhood restaurant has been on my list to try for so long and after visiting a few weeks ago, it massively lived up to expectations 🙌
It’s no surprise the food, and the drinks (those margaritas were some of the best I’ve had 🍸🤩) are top notch as Long Friday is ran by
The menu changes seasonally which means there’s always something new to try. We started with warm focaccia and bbq hake with wakame butter and samphire 🐟 both were so light and the fish just flaked apart, gorgeous!
We then ordered a mix of vegetable dishes alongside the barbecued beef bavette served with bone marrow chimichurri 🤤 the steak was cooked to perfection and the flavours of every dish were just incredible 👏
We shared the squash potatoes with onion aioli, tempura tenderstem broccoli with blood orange and ginger dipping sauce, Caesar and lemon kale, and my favourite, the roasted cauliflower with smoked hummus 😋🫶
The vibes in here are so relaxed and as there’s only a couple of tables it feels extra special. They keep some spaces for walk-in’s but I’d definitely recommend booking ahead as this place is popular, and you can totally understand why! 💫
Save this post and share with a friend because you’ll absolutely want to this place to your list ✨

Found on New Market (near Newmarket East car park) opened on Friday and is all about giant sandos, including a breakfast menu on until 11.30am and signature lunch sandos created with local favourites focaccia or ciabatta 👏
I headed down for brekkie and got The Golden Press, which included bacon, a fried egg and hash brown drizzled with srirarcha sauce inside a ciabatta 😋 there’s a few tables outside, but I recommend taking yours down to Carlisle Park and enjoying the riverside view 🛶🦆
As well as juices and matcha in flavours like banana bread or pistachio and white chocolate, they’re serving coffee using local beans from so a flat white was definitely on the cards 🙌☕️
Their opening hours are 8.30am-4.30pm, but keep an eye on their socials in case they sell out of sandwiches early 💫
Be sure to save this post for your next trip to Morpeth✨
